Re: TV 5: Cliffhangers and Intros!

I actually saw L&O: UK and I liked it. It's a lot more civil than the regular L&O.
I'm still ticked that NBC essentially traded the original for LOLA. I've always watch all thee L&O's but I don't know if I'm going to get into the new one. It's low on the DVR totem pole at this point. The UK version would be interesting to see though.

Re: TV 5: Cliffhangers and Intros!

Dexter was solid last night. But I didn't like how...SPOILER:
They so quickly closed the FBI's interest in Dexter, and how they wrote out Astor and Cody. Part of me likes that, but I think there could have been an interesting story with Astor and Dexter...it doesn't feel like they wrapped up the storyline.

blahblahblah spoiler
Well, from their point of view they know he didn't actually kill her, have no connection between Dexter and Kyle Butler and found that the three sketches provided by the family were completely different from each other. Other than his "I did it" comments, they have nothing on him at all, and that could be easily written off as a guy breaking down after finding his new wife murdered.

I really like the development of Dexter's character. He's learning to feel, something he'd never done before.

Well yeah, but it wouldn't take a lot of digging to realize he wasn't SUPPOSED to be at the FBI raid...and then seemingly forgot he was there under questioning. A decent interrogator should realize that.

I'm just upset because it was such a teaser going into the season, and her "We know you were at Arthur Mitchell's house" line was played out to be such a momentous fact...that's all.

Re: TV 5: Cliffhangers and Intros!

Did SNL get any trouble over the "black noise" generator? I know it was the 12:55 sketch, and I know it was funny, but still, there are those who would find that offensive.

You're also assuming that the writers are interested in being 100% true to life here.

Getting around to watching Rubicon from this weekend. That guy should be ashamed to call himself a contract killer.

I know, I know, suspended reality.

I dunno, maybe I'm just slightly disappointed because I think a full blown investigation would've been a better path than Quinn, it feels SO much like Season 2.

Just seems like a missed opportunity.

I'm certainly concerned with that as well. However, I have a feeling that the family gave conflicting descriptions on purpose; that they have no interest in "Kyle Butler" being found. When shown Dexter's picture, I predict they'll say they don't recognize him.

That scene was a little tough to believe from a reality standpoint because of how it played out, but I think you can give them a pass because dramatically it played out very well.

Also, one of the things I like about the show is that they subtly but clearly show the difference between an operations guy that knows what he's doing in Cale and a guy who has no clue in Will. Too many shows like that take the everyman character and turn him into a superspy. Bloom was kind of in the middle of the two in that he knows what he's doing, but is getting older and a little bit off of his game, which is why he made some of those mistakes.

I would imagine if they did we would have heard it by now. Luckily the episode stunk so very few people were watching by then. Bryan Cranston did a great job and all, but the writing sucked overall. Though the Digital Short was decent.

Oh, and apparently Ernest Borgnine is still alive.

I really think the show is on the edge of being funny again, the season premiere was evidence of that. But what really needs to happen is Seth Meyers needs to stop being the head writer. I mean, yeah, he can be funny on update, but is there anything else he has done/can do as a comedian? Also, the new kids are pretty **** funny, and as someone has said before, how the hell can you go through a show with Andy Samberg and Bill Hader only in two sketches? They're by far the two funniest people on that show.

Re: TV 5: Cliffhangers and Intros!

I'm always suprised at how well the big bang theory does with how intelligent you have to be to get all the jokes. Or do people just laugh cuz they don't get it and the laugh track people are laughing?
