TV 20 - Sorry no fancy title

Yeah, like St. Clown I read them as asexual and a deliberate send up of SF shows inevitably sexualizing aliens. She was a middle finger to the Barbarella Effect.
 
Growing up in the 1990s, shows like Buffy, Charmed, and the X Files were strictly off limits to me. My parents weren't fundamentalists, but they were panicking about witchcraft and Satan.

Watching those shows now, I would love to ask my Mom "really? You were afraid of THAT?"
 
My wife had a similar experience. Her mother isn’t a conservative either, but she was young enough that the nonsense taught by them in rural Nebraska was still ingrained deep. She does laugh now that she was worried about her daughters watching it.

I was raised in the Mass Delusion but never bought it. I knew people who were part of it as a communal/family activity, but they never bought it either.

I gotta say, every time I meet somebody who actually believes there are gods I feel like I am meeting a Flat Earther. I'm no fan of the secular materialist world either -- it is just as limited and stupid in its flavor of the month ontology -- but conscious intelligences with a plan for humanity is "the dog told me to kill him" shit. Billions believing something clearly ridiculous makes it no less ridiculous.
