TV 20 - Sorry no fancy title

I thought WU was strong. I apparently missed the debut of Mr On Blast earlier this year, but that character has the perfect amount of Adult Swim energy.

Skits were bland. Will Ferrell playing the teenager had a shot to be funny on the concept of Ferrell being a teenager, but Padilla had a rare drop of the ball and kept breaking. Though I don’t know if the skit really had a chance anyway, the writing made no sense.

Meanwhile Colbert is going out gangbusters. All week has been fantastic.

I will NEVER watch CBS late night ever again. Have already boycotted 60 Minutes.

Classy move last night by Jimmy Kimmel to announce he's taking the night off in solidarity with Colbert and encouraging his audience to watch CBS "one time, and never again." Reminds me of when Conan instructed viewers to turn from his show at 11:37 to watch Dave's last show.

The penultimate monologue was great. He was talking about the Dump phone shipping nine months late and said the last time there was so much disappointment after nine months was when Eric was born. Then he turned and looked into camera and said, "I know over the years I've said some very mean things about Eric...." then skipped a beat and turned back to center and went on with his monologue. It was *chef's kiss*

It sucked the first time and I cannot believe they brought it back. I would not bring back that new guy based solely on that bit, even though his Tucker Carlson bit was spot on.

Colbert is good but my god Jack White is funny.

In the year since AtH ended, Pablo Torre won a Pulitzer and Mina Kimes won Celebrity Jeopary. Ramona Shelborne and Bill Plaischke haven't won shit because they're hacks.

Wrapped up Brockmire. Ultimately it followed Kepler's thesis that most shows should only be one season. Seasons 2-4 ranged from good to watchable, but Season 1 was tight and the only one that felt fleshed out from start to finish.

Usually because they are. And then the studios say we want more seasons, and the writers and rest of the creative team have to try to cobble some sort of story together that can provide more season's worth of entertainment.

And often, they shot their wad with that first season, had it tight and concise, didn't really have an idea of what those characters could do beyond that first season, and so what follows seems like just throwing stuff together just to see what happens.
