Fitting for the times:

Also, Archer's continually messing up of who was an axis or allied power in world war 2 but at the same time being knowledgeable various pacts and treaties that would led to who was sided with who.

Or is ignorance of references to Animal Farm in Space Race but then when Lana tries to tell him it's a novel and his reply: "No! It's not It's an allegorical novella about Stalinism. And spoiler alert, IT SUCKS!"

There are so many I know are references to some historical event, often quite obscure, that I miss it have no idea they are a reference and they still find a way to make it funny.
 
I finally broke down and watched the first season of For All Mankind.

My one real quibble is that the premise of the show, the Soviets beat the US to the Moon and everything changes drastically, already requires a fairly substantial suspension of disbelief and then they really really test that with all the deaths that occur in the last few episodes. Like, 12 people die in a launchpad accident, then in literally the first mission after said accident the spacecraft gets stranded in space and has two astronauts die, including a Mercury 7 astronaut!, during the rescue and the response is “let’s increase the funding for NASA!”?

The second season I felt was the best season. Still have to suspend disbelief, but it's worth it.
 
Scarpetta with Nicole Kidman, Simon Baker, Jamie Lee Curtis and Bobby Cannavale wasn't flawless (I really, really, really abhor incessant bickering between characters) but I thought it did the source material justice. Didn't love the cliffhanger ending.

And give an A+ to the casting for nailing the actors that played younger versions (by 28 years in the story) to several of the main characters. One of which is Bobby's son Jake who obviously played his younger self.

Yeah, from what I have read the cliffhanger ending is because this is a two season and done thing and they just can't help themselves.

Wouldn't surprise me how long they might try to milk it given how many books there are. I guess in that regard I probably shouldn't be too steamed about it if they can keep up the momentum.

Yeah, I just do not think Nicole is going long term. They could do another couple seasons of a different book with different actors though, for sure.

That might come up at some point sure. But look at Tom Hiddleston with The Night Manager which has a confirmed S3, Landman with Billy Bob has a confirmed S3, Costner did I think 4 with Yellowstone. I guess for now enjoy the ride.

I agree. You never know. I am here to consume "others" created art because I cannot create it myself.
 
I like some of Ryan Murphy's American Horror Story, so I gave Fx's new series The Beauty a try.

I don't want to know what he got paid to fart out this dreck. I don't know how Evan Peters and Isabella Rosellini agreed to this. Just laughably bad, I'm torn between hate watching the finish or never knowing how this abomination ends

Did not see, but read it was execrable.

Specific payment details for Ryan Murphy's 2026 FX series The Beauty are not publicly disclosed.

However, based on current industry reports, his work on The Beauty falls under his new, post-Netflix, overall deal with Disney (which owns FX), signed after his previous $300 million deal with Netflix expired.
