TV 20 - Sorry no fancy title

TIL there will be an S2 of Queens Gambit. They never fucking learn, the swine. Blow up the studios and string up the execs.

West World taught them nothing.

Killing Eve taught them nothing.

Severence taught them nothing.

The grabbing hands / Grab all they can

I gave it 5 minutes. What have they done to Naomi Watts and Glenn Close?

On the positive side E1 of Death By Lighting about the lives of Garfield and Guiteau leading up to their ill-fated encounter at a Washington train station was wonderful. There were a few out-of-period choices of dialogue that were slightly annoying, but both Michael Shannon as Garfield and Matthew Macfadeyn as Guiteau were brilliant. I don't know if I recognize the latter from anything but he has a slight Christoph Waltz like charisma to him.

It's Netflix of course, but as of E1 I'm more than encouraged to want to continue.
Macfadeyn, playing Guiteau, was Tom (Shiv's husband) from Succession.

I watched all four episodes in one sitting. Honestly, I was disappointed despite the great talent in the series. The book upon which this is supposedly based, is excellent. A much greater part of the book details the medical care (or lack thereof) and the efforts of Alexander Graham Bell to come up with a machine to locate the bullet. In my opinion, too little of this series focused on the interesting part of the story.

Stumbled across a new show called Sheriff Country and decided to try Ep 1 not realizing it was a network show. I made it about 5 minutes before I shut it off. Horrible.
It's a spinoff of Fire Country, hence the name.

Morena Baccarin is certainly easy on the eyes, but from the commericials I've seen, she might want to have her agent look for other work...

Community was the last network show I watched. Before that... uh... Moonlighting? So, there has been 1 good network show in 36 years. Assuming I missed 1 or 2. The Good Place? Shitt's Creek?

Edit: using this and counting the Big 3 + FOX, here is everything not shit since 1990. Animated not counted. Reality TV not counted since it is all shit, albeit occasionally fun:

Not shit since 1990. If not listed, then either shit or skipped because thought shit:
  • Northern Exposure, CBS (S1-2 only)
  • X-Files, Fox (S1-6 only)
  • House, Fox (early - mid-seasons)
  • Heroes, NBC (S1 only)
  • The Office, NBC (middle seasons)
  • Community, NBC (S1-5)
  • 30 Rock, NBC (early seasons)
  • The Good Place, NBC (the entire run)

It's not horrid. I am watching it. I still like the hour long formula. It's the difference between a snack and a meal. Sometimes I am just not hungry enough for a meal.

The female musical guest on SNL 2 weeks ago (whom I thought was a country artist with 1 recognizable song) seems to be forcibly trying to go avant-garde and I don't know how I feel about it, while the most recent guest sombr was a tall, lanky lad that I am actually intrigued enough by to check out more.

And with that it's time they give Ren an appearance.

Twin Peaks??

Early seasons Simpsons, mid seasons Roseanne (yes it was good before she was crazy), Scrubs...
He said not counting animation.

Interesting you bring up Roseanne. I also thought that was a great show for the first few seasons. But even before she went crazy, the premise changed drastically and was no longer what made it great.

M*A*S*H before Alan Alda ruined it
Cheers (before Rebecca?)
The Americans
The Wire
Arrested Development
Hannibal
Fargo (you can argue specific seasons if you'd like I'm still going to list it)
Freaks and Geeks
I would need to watch it again because nostalgia may be muddying my memory but I was wickedly pissed off when they cancelled Parker Can't Lose

Twin Peaks??
Have never seen it. In fact, I just saw the Firewalk movie Friday. I will watch the movie 1-2 more times before attempting the slightest commentary. After one pass it's way above me.

I love Lynch but have still not seen many of his works. I am working on it. Next up for me is Inland Empire.

I only saw one episode but really enjoyed it. It was right smack in my "JFC too busy to watch any TV gotto go now grad school / job / drink / poon!" period so had never heard anything about it going in. One of the first meta shows, like Dream On and Gary Shandling.

I thought they were all prior to 1990 when I started the timeline. All three count as not shit.
