TV 20 - Sorry no fancy title

The Santa Clarita Diet with Timothy Olyphant and Drew Barrymore. Only watched S1E1 so far. At first I thought it was going to be painfully trite and not intentionally, but I stayed with it and now I'm thinking it might actually just be pure fun. Will try E2 and see.

It’s goofy and fun. I started cause I love Timothy and he does not disappoint

Today I read there are peer reviewed studies that explain why highly intelligent people love trash reality TV.

tldr: the bad choices of stupid people with no inhibitions allow us to watch worldbuilding that has no connection with our own lives, so all of our real life worries are untethered and we have pure escapism.

Maybe, but I just like a nice rack.

Watching the King Of The Hill revival.

Lost in all the “is Hank Hill a Dump voter?” discussion is that Peggy Hill is almost certainly a Dump voter. Wildly confident in spite of having zero competence? She’s a Dump voter poster child.

Anyway, that off my chest the first few episodes are pretty good.

Haven't had a chance to watch any episodes yet, but the clip Hulu shared of Khan was... not good. The new VA makes him sound mid 30s and the accent is all over the place.

Not everything has to have meaning.

Gilded Age is doing another great job with costume and set. The writing is better this season, too. The characters have developed. The Bertha-George dynamic is particularly well written and acted.

I had no idea Bertha was Laurie in The White Lotus. Holy shit, she can act the tits off a debutante.

Watched some of Too Much on Netflix

First, if you hate Lena Dunham, you won’t like this. She’s not in much, but she’s creator and it’s based on her life

I like the male lead- the British guy who was not Theo James from season 3 of white lotus.

I prefer the female lead in her Hacks role- not sure she was meant to carry this but I need to see more

People are def uncomfortable with seeing hot guy /fat girl together. It’s a nice departure from the troll getting the hot girl.

Smilla's Sense of Snow - based off the 1992 novel. Per the Wiki

It happened in the Copenhagen snow. A six-year-old boy, a Greenlander like Smilla, fell to his death from the top of his apartment building. While the boy's body is still warm, the police pronounce his death an accident. But Smilla knows her young neighbor didn't fall from the roof on his own. Soon she is following a path of clues as clear to her as footsteps in the snow. For her dead neighbor, and for herself, she must embark on a harrowing journey of lies, revelation and violence that will take her back to the world of ice and snow from which she comes, where an explosive secret waits beneath the ice....
Based upon Ep 1 the show stays true to the source material which I like. Also it's not a Hollywood production which is a plus.

Curiously most of the dialogue is in English so if you're not a huge fan of subtitles no worry.

Megan Stalter is a nut.

I enjoyed this show overall. Also has Joel from Mrs. Maisel! Richard Grant is also good.

Saw the first episode of Jason Mamoa's Dune: Waterworld.

We know a lot of Hawaiians so it is mandatory for us.

Spoilers I mean kinda:

It's dumb but well duh. It's Dune meets Shogun meets I dunno maybe Othello? Mamoa's scenery chewing is hilarious. The Hawaiian girls are even whiter than the chick in Dark Winds. But the fight scenes are ingeniously brutal and I mean how could the cinematography not be excellent, it's fucking paradise?

No grade given. I was entertained. C'est tout.
