TV 20 - Sorry no fancy title

Speaking of navel-gazing pretentiousness, I just saw a great example, which of course I loved. The Caretaker, 1963, a three-person play by Pinter, filmed with the unlikely triple threat combo of Alan Bates, Robert Shaw, and Donald Pleasance.

Why it's great and Handy won't get it:
  • It's sloooooooooooooooow. I like slow but this was a challenge for me.
  • It's complex and convoluted and every word is precise and important. It's the polar opposite of the superficial fluff of Aaron Sorkin, Josh Wedon, and Justin Roiland.
  • It's sincere. Irony is lazy and film scripts have lolled in the Lotus Eater idiocy of the ironic since the 90s because it sells to the LCD. This has Sophoclean pain levels of true.
  • It's for adults. It's not for the masses. Because the masses, in case you missed it, are animals.
It's an unpleasant experience and worthwhile, much like posting about aesthetics here.

Yeah I thought we were allowed to have differing opinions, guess it just pisses some people off. But no matter how many people tell me I’m wrong, my opinion ain’t changing
Agreed. Look I know I'm in the minority with my affinity for both S3 and 4 and I'm ok with it. My only pushback to those that think 3 and 4 fell off is that if S1 and 2 never happened would opinions of 3 and 4 be more positive?

Season 3 and 4 have my Catholic school mate, they will always be winners for that no matter what :)

I would have never finished 3 if I didn't love 1 and 2. I like most of 4 I just wish it ended different and was the end of the show.

The golden age of television truly dead…Netflix cancels prince harry and Meghan’s deal.

Oh, no. I was really looking forward to seeing her attempt to cook and him pretend he’s special some more. At least they get their privacy now!

I hope this is the end of these companies giving talentless celebrities tv deals. I’m sick of price increases for these worthless people

Just happened to tune into South Park tonight. Saw my first new episode live for the first time in years. They went all out on Paramount and Trump. That was a vintage 6 Days to Air type episode.
The White House released a statement and Dumpy is big mad.

Matt and Trey got paid then went scorched earth.

They are not innocent in the rise of Dump but holy fuck was that funny.

TIL that Abby Elliott, who plays Natalie on the Bear, is Chris Elliott’s daughter.

I still can’t picture him as anything other than the goblin with swollen eye in there’s something about Mary

They’re also the only family to have three generations on SNL. Chris’ dad Bob was on it around the time it started, I believe.
