TV 10: Blacklisted Sons: The Musical

Re: TV 10: Blacklisted Sons: The Musical

Been watching some old Twilight Zone episodes on Netflix. My dad got me into the series during the Syfy (back when it was Sci-Fi even!) marathons during 4th of July and NYE. Unfortunately I think the popularity is starting to die out, because the marathon seems to get shorter and shorter every year.

A lot of the episodes still hold up, probably because most don't involve technology, or if they do it's futuristic like space travel or time travel. A lot of the famous episodes still get parodied in TV shows, I wonder how many people actually know what it's from.

So who's been watching Outlander? It's become one of my favorite shows. The scene in the last episode where she and her husband were both at the stones, only separated by time, was very powerful. And a beautiful theme song.
Looks pretty good and have enjoyed it. Been thinking of buying the book(s) on Amazon. They're cheap.

I like the one episode where you think it's on Earth but it turns out not to be Earth, or vice versa.

I can't tell if you're being serious or not. USCHO always breaks my sarcasm meter.

That was the plot of at least ten episodes, but I can think of one episode in particular where that was the main point driven to the viewer.

Re: TV 10: Blacklisted Sons: The Musical

In a similar vein, I've been binge watching the first season (1962?) of The Outer Limits on Netflix. My god, it's great -- I always enjoyed it but it's actually better than the Twilight Zone in many ways. It has fantastic guest stars for one thing. It's also more hard science. And something I didn't realize about TZ until I started listening to a lot of 30s and 40s radio -- many of the TZ episodes are (excellent) retellings of old radio scripts. Outer Limits, OTOH, seems to have been entirely original material.

It's also nice because I'm not familiar with many of the episodes, having only dim memories of seeing them on WPIX maybe once 40 years ago, whereas I've seen every episode of TZ a hundred times because of the New Years Eve marathons.

Off the top of my head:

The sensory deprivation tank one
The "Adam and Eve" one
The last flight from nuclear war one
The Mars is Heaven Bradbury one
The Agnes Moorehead fighting astronauts one

The Roddy McDowell zoo one is kinda like that, though it doesn't technically qualify. The Charles Bronson last couple on Earth one might be like that; we are never really sure

"It's just like that Twilight Zone episode where the guy wakes up and he's the same, but everybody else is different."

"Which one was that?"

"Oh, they were all like that"

Three's Company! Oh, my favorite is the one where there's a mix-up!

How To Get Away With Murder is a fun show. Lots of bizarre unbelievable stuff going on.

“@iAmNicoleButler: So either you need to be famous or a Sagal to be on #soa these days.

No, just have to have talent.
And not be a cunt. 😃

He pulls no punches although the criticisms that Gemma is only still alive coz she's played by his wife have some merit.

The show was originally about Jax and his journey and it's shifted to being quite a bit about Gemma - not a good shift, imo.

Watched the first two of Gotham tonight with the boy and we both liked them.

The Penguin is very well cast and played.

However....all of this season is on Gemma. She's to blame. And I think that will come back to haunt her (Dr Obvious speaking)

Yeah - wife said that after this week's ep. All of the **** that's hitting the fan is on her.

Still, don't find her to be all that compelling of a character. Ms. Sagal plays the part very well, just don't want to see that character featured as much as she is.

I do find her talking to Tara intriguing. Chink in the armor of the Head Old Lady, you know?
