tUMD vs SCSU Oct 23/24

Re: tUMD vs SCSU Oct 23/24

Is anyone else deterred by our 5x5 success, or lack thereof. SCSU hasn't scored a 5X5 goal since last Friday against UNION, and although we got some pressure on them last night, 5X5 is our weak spot. Also noticed Bob went to about 3 lines last night...didn't see much of peckskamp and ryan at all. It's disappointing with our lack of 5X5 competitiveness that Ryan kid doesn't get a little more opportunity. We could use some size and grit on that ice sheet. I thought last night SCSU lost a lot of 1 on 1 battles. The forwards really need to attack the tUMD (t is stupid) defensemen down low and tire them out. I'm interested to see what happens tonight and what team comes out to play.

Technically speaking, the first goal was 5 x 5, the PP had expired.
As for being deterred by it, not in the least, as long as we score goals, I don't care how we get them.

Re: tUMD vs SCSU Oct 23/24

We had fall break this weekend so we have been off thurs. and fri., so a lot of students went home for the 4 day weekend. And the brilliance that is scsu res life, closed down all of the dorms but 2 or 3, so all of those kids didn't have a chance. I was expecting the student sections to be empty and full of non regular fans/kids who don't even know hockey. As for the general fans they sat on their hands the entire game, and they really sucked the life out of the student section.

WARNING HERE COMES MY "BACK IN MY DAY RANT" ONCE AGAIN::D

Sorry, but when I started at SCSU last nights would have been a nice size crowd. The difference was the place had as many if not more students in it than townies. It is the student sections job to get the old people(that includes me now) to stand up and cheer. If the students actually stood and cheered all game then us old people would follow. Of course I can't tell you the last time the student section was actually wild and loud......

Usually I would agree with that except UMD had 20 minutes in penalties so one third of the game we were on the power play. Ok I know we probably only had 16 minutes of power play time, but you know what I mean.

You're not kidding. Back in the late 90's the student sections were just wild, no organization, just people cheering their heads off (all but the first two rows of seats, which were usually empty because we knew they are obstructed views). Now they're student organizations and have "leaders." You know, there was a leader named Moe. He did all right. The student organization's leader is no Moe.

Re: tUMD vs SCSU Oct 23/24

Here's the deal:

Little Falls line was great.

Mike Lee should watch the game tonight. He really had an off night. All 3 goals were stoppable. He froze on the first one, didn't guard the post on the second one, had a wide open 5 hole on the third one. Last 2 goals would have had no chance if he played elementary goalie positioning.

Hjelle looked great, made a lot of quality saves.

I don't know why Dunn doesn't get more chance to play. He should do Fridays and Lee Saturdays

MeanEgirl stalking Casey Borer saga continues. It must be fate that draws those 2 together.

Barta should transfer to St. John's, they might be able to use him.

Another eternal mystery is why Mosey gets to center Roe and Lasch. Mosey would do a better job on the bench.

Don't they allow checking anymore? There were more hits at the women's game.

Do the Huskies need a hitting coach?

Old guys rule.

motzko needs to listen to me.:D I said put Oslund with Lasch and Roe. Oslund played great on the power play last night, he deserves another shot at the top line. I think he is ready this time unlike last year. The I would bench Mosey and Barta, both should never see the ice again..... I would put Rioux in for Barta, Oslund in for Mosey and I really don't care who you play on the 4th line in oslunds spot.

One thing about the ref's. I like that they call the clutch and grab interference calls. The call on the Hsukies in overtime was a penalty and UMD was called for that same type clutch and grab at least twice in the game as well. Players need to be smart and not grab guys away from the puck. Players can check and play physical without the cluch and grab crap. However, I don't like to see the ref 100 feet away making calls the ref 5 feet away doesn't call. The guy on top the play should make that call.

TB, you need to go to the Motzko show so you can tell him directly what he needs to do. Or maybe just e-mail him with complete instructions. Then I'll inform him that you're the new internet coach.

He told me a couple weekd ago we needed to go have a beer because he doesn't know everything and he needs some pointers.:D

TB: When you get together with Motzko for a beer, bring a good cigar to give him, then for sure he'll do whatever you tell him......within reason, and nothing sexual.

Should I e-mail him and ask him when we are going to have a beer? I can see it now.

Motzko: When did I say we should have a beer?

TB: you know when skeeterman told you at the ice cream social that I knew everything and then you said we should have a beer sometime I need some pointers.......

Motzko: Oh that's right, but I was kidding..........

Of course Bob if you read this message board, I really would be more than happy to give you some pointers. After seeing you put Barta in the line up night after night I think you need it.

Re: tUMD vs SCSU Oct 23/24

If Oslund gets put with those 2, who's your 4th center?
Roe and Oslund are both centers.

Who care's it's the 4th line. Once novak is healthly the problem is solved any way and he should be back next friday. When that happens you put novak back with Christian and Marvin and move Volpie to center of the fourth line.

Re: tUMD vs SCSU Oct 23/24

HEY! Startthebus, our starting goalie is Brady Hjelle. Alex Stalock went pro and is playing for the San Jose Sharks AHL affiliate.

I hope this clears up some confusion.

You being on kiss cam really made my night.
I am very aware Stalock isn't your goalie..the people in front of my didn't hear me right, I had said "You're not Stalock!" to Hjelle.

I am guessing you're friends with Theresa or something?

And I am glad I could make your night!

Also, yes- the two games I have been to have been more quiet than an awkward funeral.

I didn't get to the game until the end of the 1st period, but I feel that the Huskies really out played the Bulldogs. Just look at the shot count.
Lee let in at least one softy, that was the difference maker because I think our defense actually played well.

I would also like to say that I was very entertained by the young-girl/old man action that was going on in section 107 row 7 last night during the 3rd period.

OF COURSE THEY OUTPLAYED THE BULLDOGS (one word) AND HAD MORE SHOTS ON GOAL. We had 5 power plays, one was for like 2 seconds. You had 10 power plays, one was for just as short, I think. We were down a player for 10 minutes because he got a 10 minute misconduct for shooting after the whistle, which didn't even happen. This isn't really astute analysis here, homeslice.

I'm curious about an awkward funeral. What would make it awkward? The circumstances surrounding the death? The attendees? The locale? Skeeterman?

I would also like to say that I was very entertained by the young-girl/old man action that was going on in section 107 row 7 last night during the 3rd period.

Aha, Skeeterman, way to go!

Correction: This was not Skeeterman, it was Kolorful Ken. Ken believes he is still 19, so that makes any action perfectly acceptable!
