tUMD @ Tech - Dec. 2-3, 2011 Talking In tThird Person For Two Weeks!

while annoying, I always figured they were making some kind of political statement (if not natives, they're probably canadian anyway, so who cares). I don't get other teams fans copying it...
VIOLATION!!!!!!!!!!

Nah. People just like yelling stuff.

Oh yeah. MTU is longer undefeated against NCHC teams :)

Geezer really thought that? Geezer is really giving tUnnamed fans too much credit. They are not thinking "Gee, we really messed up and this land really belongs to the Sioux, let's correct everyone." It is certainly used as a rationalization by some Unnamed fans though.

Would you guys be this fixated on the Bulldog chant had Tech gotten any points this weekend? I think not. Face the matter you got swept by a better team right now. Tech has had a great year thus far and its nice to see them actually contending and winning games. Hats off to Mel and the team on the turnaround. That being said the Bulldogs are playing at a very high level right now, and its great to see. GO DOGS!

That was just geezer and two other old people who fixated. Most people are saying sure it's stupid but UND started it so it's OK, or it's not a big deal in the first place and/or the anthem was written to be mocked. So the terrorists have already won, in other words. ;)
As for the hockey, no doubt Daloot was the better team thanks to Jack. Tech has had a lot of struggles against mediocre teams over the last month, and it's getting worse before it gets better with back-to-back weekends against Jack Connolly and then UMD's daddy gophers. Still, I'm not ready to write off the season until we get swept by Nebraska and UAA both. There's still a mathematical chance at .500.

Good job this weekend by the dogs. All in all they are playing good hockey.

Glad that everyone else is only focusing on Jack Connolly. It will make the run for Hobey Baker that much easier. Not to mention the fact that no one is defending the other 17 guys.

Geezer, Im glad you focused so much on Jack, you missed that our 4th line guys had 4 of 10 goals this weekend. :)

I don't want to diminish their contribution. But when you have a player that controls as much of the game as he does (line matchups, PP, PK, etc) then everything else follows, including letdowns against the 4th line players (I remember one such goal on Sat., it was a letdown on Tech's part). I think Tech would match up pretty well with the rest of that team and might actually steal a win if Jack was out with the flu or something. Moot point of course.
Hopefully he doesn't get hurt, or you'll find out the same boat Tech was in last year without Olson. One player can make a huge difference in W/L.

Jack Connolly and his individual ability was the difference in this series...not UMDs 4th line.

Aren't the Bulldogs the defending National Champions? BOH thinks the new and improved Huskies did pretty well this past weekend and have done much better this year than he expected.

The 4th line scoring 40% of the goals was a big part in the sweep. This team is definitely not all about Jack Connolly. He is a big part of it but this team has more scoring depth than last year's team.

Amsoil, your spot on. Having lines other than the top 2 that can produce is a huge factor on a team. Im not saying JCon is not dynamic and a standout on the ice, cause he is a special player and all that and more. But depth and production out of the 3 & 4th lines makes a big difference.

Michigan Tech's 3rd line had half of MTU's goals plus a 3rd pair defenseman got one (so 4 total goals from the bottom 2 lines/defense). The difference in this series was UMD shutdown MTU's PP and top line, MTU did not shutdown Connolly.

Although was MTU's power play decent before this series? UMD did a great job (especially Saturday night) of killing penalties. It was one after another on Saturday yikes...

Actually stats wise, MTU did fine on the PP for the weekend, 3 for 13-23%(15 for 72-20.8% this season)I guess the issue was the failure to score on the 5x3 opportunities.
