Trump First Term I: I for One Welcome Our New Trumpy Overlord

We are the greatest country...

According to what measurement? Not education or health, for sure.

Military, sure, but that's a means to an end, not an end itself.

Economy, maybe, as measured by GDP. But this election says many people don't agree.

Re: Trump First Term I: I for One Welcome Our New Trumpy Overlord

Just caught this on the news tonight. Trumpy's tax plan, which they said was very similar to the plan in Paul Ryan's budget plan from a few years ago. Just caught a quick glimpse of it, as i was leaving my folks' house, and there was a fourth bracket listed, which they called a quintile, but that would mean five, so maybe they was another one that I didn't see. Numbers are best of my recollection.

Anyway:

Bottom quintile: Gets $100, or .2% cut
Next quintile: Gets $1000, or .8% cut.
Next quintile: Gets $214K, or a 12.something % reduction.
Next quintile: Missed the number, but something like a 14.something % cut.
And I'm assuming another quintile I missed.

Now, that percentage number may mean their growth in after-tax income, I'm not sure. In any event, just more of the same from the supply-siders.

My question is, why can't they ever configure these so the bottom quintiles get the 12 and 14% cuts, while the top quintiles get the .2's and the .8's? They'll still be getting tens of thousands in tax cuts, while helping the poorer and middle classes that much more.

Oh, but I know why not. Cause it's all about the rich paying as little as they possibly can, it's not about stimulating growth or adding jobs.

health? absolutely we are. people from all over the planet come here when they need medical help.

same thing with education. our universities are full of foreign nationals looking to get college degrees.

economy would be measured by wealth. we got that.

Hoping this works, and I hope it's not a fake. This is the Thanksgiving menu at MarALago. Two typos in it that I could see.

He's already hard at work saving money, by not printing the letter 'e' in Maine. Also, not only do tuna martinis sound revolting, but I'm pretty sure one doesn't grow fish or bottles of gin in their garden. :D

There's about 60,000,000 Trump voters who think we're not. Unless you're admitting they're all racists and deplorables.

That doesn't make it the greatest, that just means it's the best at catering to the wealthy. The flip side is that our system fails the less wealthy.

By objective measurements, there are about 30-35 countries who have better overall health care systems.

To be the best or greatest you attract those who can afford it.

What you are searching for is described differently.

That is not necessarily a bad thing, but neither the best nor the greatest.

Funny, I would think the greatest healthcare system would be the one that had the best overall outcomes, which could be expressed by things such as life expectancy.

I didn't realize providing Trump the option of getting a sixth heart bypass while allowing his employees to die of preventable diseases because they can't afford the cure makes for the greatest system.

Sorry, business-ese. "Overcome by Events": no longer relevant due to other circumstances, often used in a gallows-humor way.

"I'm sorry, honey, I still haven't booked our tickets for the Prince concert."

"About that."

hahaha, thanks. Nice touch with the Minnesota reference.
