Snow volume is not the only criteria. You can get 30" of snow, but if the accompanying winds only average 15-20 MPH (or anything under 35, for that matter), it's just a winter storm; not a blizzard.

And yes, I've experienced that in MI when I was a kid. Went to bed with ~8-10" on the ground, and woke up with ~40".

Syracuse and Rochester have plenty of lake effect snow. I think you'd be surprised at how the snow belt in NY gets it in the neck.

But I agree our temps are nothing like yours.

FEC Questions Trump Over Improper Donations

From the article:

On Sunday, the FEC sent a letter to the Drumpf campaign flagging more than 1,000 potentially illegal mistakes in the campaign’s October latest filing. In the letter addressed to Drumpf campaign treasurer Timothy Jost, the FEC warned that hundreds of Drumpf’s donors exceeded the $2,700 contribution limit. In total, the FEC said Drumpf’s presidential campaign accepted almost 1,100 donations totaling about $1.3 million that appear to have violated campaign finance laws.

Oh and:

In addition to the thousands of excessive contributions in apparent violation of the law, the letter also flagged other campaign finance law violations, such as accepting donations from groups that hadn’t properly registered with FEC.

Last week, a liberal grassroots organization filed a complaint alleging that a pro-Drumpf super PAC improperly funneled payments to Steve Bannon, Drumpf’s campaign CEO and soon-to-be White House strategist, in violation of the law.

Driving all day yesterday, so a lot of radio time. NPR did a piece about a guy wo made a bunch of money the last couple of years creating fake news outlets and putting false stories out there. He began it as an effort to out the alt-right, publishing lies such as the recent one about the death of an FBI agent who released (or investigated) Clinton emails. He said he was not prepared for the appetite the right has for anything that fits their narrative--that his stories were like red meat to them. Made a bundle of money off them putting false stories out there. They apparently tried false stories feeding the liberal narrative too, but they didn't get a similar response.

Of course, this all came on a station Ive never listened to before, but I'm sure it was legit. :)

This isn't news to many, but Michael Flynn is dangerous. He said: "This is Islamism, it is a vicious cancer inside the body of 1.7 billion people on this planet and it has to be excised."

Claiming that every Muslim is an extremist is a dangerous. If you've ever spent any time with them, you'll know the vast vast majority - at least the ones here - are really good people. This stupid rhetoric is the same garbage used in the past for such misplaced strategies as using the Iraq war as a response to 9/11.
