This country doesn't matter. America is not geography, it's an idea. If it flourishes elsewhere, those people are then the real Americans.

That's the thing the xenophobes and the white, Christian nationalists will never get. Those characteristics are common to everyone. All the apes that roam the world's shopping malls can say "I was born in valley x, I was indoctrinated by my pappy in superstition y, I speak language z." The differences between those characteristics don't matter one bit. Anybody who ever died for x, y, or z is just an animal defending its hovel.

The ideas make America. If this nation state quits, f-ck it:

Youth finds a way. I can remember cold so deep and wind so strong it made three layers of clothing feel like a damask teddy, yet at 19 I still got to the Ag quad and back alive.

Yes, please tell the MN people about cold. :p The only time classes were ever cancelled by the university (actually, by the governor) due to weather was a result of -40 air temps across most of the state with high winds. It happened twice my freshman year.

First of all - us WCHA/NCHC folks laugh at your so-called "blizzards". :D Buffalo is probably the only city in NY than can lay out a case for one of their winter storms meeting the criteria on a regular basis.

That said, it may be the case that we have male birth control within my lifetime. But I predict, within a decade afterward, you'll be seeing the ambulance chaser ads on TV to join a class action suit. "Was your ability to have children permanently compromised by Pricket? Call this number right now! You may be entitled to compensation!"

Anything to the right of the lakes can get piles of snow. The line from Rochester -> Oswego -> Pulaski -> Watertown gets inundated regularly. Further east, it can get real cold in St. Lawrence County.
