I don't see that as cut and dried. He did just call for her assassination. Its equally bad if its Trump. Too many people believe that bad outcomes for others and for which they're responsible have no bearing on themselves. I don't care what the enforcement mechanism, but we can't keep allowing this type of behavior to be acceptable.

We have a test in place for speech of this sort, and it seems to work. It's a fact-driven inquiry into whether the speech is intended to incite imminent lawless action and is likely to do so. That is different from assault, which this was not. This speech was offensive and deeply troubling but that's not enough. I've quoted Holmes' dissent in Abrams v. United States too many times here to get by with it again, but it's compelling, beautifully written, and as relevant now as it was in 1919.

I want them to attempt being smarter or risk derision. They want Jews to attempt being born a different ethnicity or risk death. There's just a slight bit of difference there.

Did these people not exist prior to 11/08/16? The media would be better off ignoring them than giving them any attention. We live in a country with 330 million people and obviously some are going to have racist or other whacko views.

There were--far too many of them. That is one reason most of us are deeply disturbed that our President elect inspires them.

It's a convenient excuse for them. They would be racist/whacko whether he was around or not. I think if anything he's probably inspired sympathy for those who have traditionally not been treated as well as they should be(which certainly goes against the media's narrative.)

What did you think was on the ballot? They got direct approval from 60 million voters, and tacit approval from ~120 million more. They were on the fringe of society because they held no political power. Now, they hold a lot.

a) an actual private business person
b) a career public servant

He's going to have some work/life balance. If it saves him time and makes him efficient, I say do it.

You seem willing to give him the benefit of the doubt that not only is this the true reasoning behind the travel but also that it will work. Nothing he's demonstrated so far allows me to agree at this time.
