Re: TRP: Will Wh*re for Pancakes

So which one of you Minnesota people boinked a fat chick this weekend  :p

(763): View more from Minnesota

Good news.. I found out what I did Saturday night. Bad news... I found out what I did Saturday night.
Sorry, unfortunately (maybe fortunately, in this case) I did no boinking on the weekend. :p

Re: TRP: Will Wh*re for Pancakes

no it wasn't.

And JMH, I'm a huge fan of Manhattans and the Old Fashioned. I'll check it out

Old Fashioned as in the drink? They are good, but I thought only Wisconsinites drank them? /Lewis Black

Case in point: at my buddy's wedding party bbq (they did that instead of a dinner; more informal) I went to this past summer, in Madison, they had a family friend making Old Fashioneds. To say they were strong would be an understatement. Holy hannah.

Re: TRP: Will Wh*re for Pancakes

My girlfriend's dad makes a mean Manhattan. One of the best things about dinner there.

I really need to try one sometime.

Nathan (of USCHO fame) also makes a good Old Fashioned. It's one of his passions.

Re: TRP: Will Wh*re for Pancakes

but he'll make you a great sex on the beach

Or a mean Buttery Nipple.

I will say, I was impressed with the Mojito at the Maple Grove Friday's. I never thought it would even be drinkable, and it turned out to be outstanding.

Mojitos have become somewhat trendy, especially during this past summer. At least around MN, it seems. I'm sure the bartenders around town have had experience with those. One of my friends, she orders them often. Those and mudslides. Give me a beer.

An Old Fashioned is basically a glass of whiskey, of course they were strong. :p

It's more than likely due to that ad campaign they had with Bacardi. But this was before then.

I like them on occasion. Has to be hotter than hell, and I have to really crave one.

And jhm: it has fruit in it! ;)

Re: TRP: Will Wh*re for Pancakes

Unless MNS's plans have changed in the last week, I believe we're doing another Saturday night at I Love This Bar and Grill. Its just too much fun that we can't stop going back. And we're apparently supposed to meet to Packer fan girls that we lost some bet against.

Who else in the Twin Cities area wants to go?

Re: TRP: Will Wh*re for Pancakes

if he was in Wisconsin, it was probably brandy and not whiskey. :)
Oh good point, you can do that as well. There's a bar near me that makes a very tasty ginger old fashioned with bourbon and fresh ginger (and some other stuff).

if Wisconsin had an official state cocktail, it'd probably be the brandy old fashioned.
paint thinner = not a cocktail, because we drink it straight.

I know a girl in Wisconsin who is named Brandy because that's what her parents were drinking when she was conceived.

Great state ya got there. ;)

An Old Fashioned is 2 parts bourbon (Jim Beam is the prefered brand, but you can use Wild Turkey), bitters, a sugar cube, a lemon peel, a tiny bit of water, and a cherry.

- muddle the sugar cube in a whiskey glass with a tiny bit of water to help dissolve the sugar
- add the two dashes of bitters
- add the lemon peel
- fill the glass with ice
- add bourbon
- stir, garnish with cherry

many places cheat by using simple syrup, and some are adding club soda to it. For the record, I've made this drink myself at the bar one time. It's definitely not a popular cocktail amongst our generation, but damm it's a good drink. Someone once ordered a Sidecar, and I almost cried out of joy. :)
