TRP: More metal than your mother

Re: TRP: More metal than your mother

I've probably received 120 emails today about a hockey camp in Maine (apparently run by Jeff Libby). Someone's listserv was set up wrong, so all of the "remove me I don't know what this is" messages went to everyone, which turned into 50 people replying to all to tell everyone not to reply to all. One guy threatened legal action. It's kinda funny seeing the responses, which included one from a D1 coach. I've been on these before, and they usually die down after a few messages, but this is a retard marathon.

I'm going to wait until it all settles down, and "reply all" to ask if anyone knows where in Maine my kid might be able to find a hockey camp.

Wow, it looks like he's been sharing the jelly donuts with Private Pyle.

Ahhh, R. Lee Ermey. How do you lend real credibility to the drill sergeant in the army movie you're making? Cast a real drill sergeant! He's also pretty awesome in Se7en. "This isn't even my desk."

RPN sucks.

[/nerd (but not enough of a nerd to like RPN)]
Fail.

That's like a car guy not knowing how to drive standard.

Wow, what are the odds of a UNH person getting flooded with e-mails about hockey? ;) :p (Was the listserv set up by Coach Borek?)

Even though it was by accident, sorta:

Former US Marine Corps Drill Instructor R. Lee Ermey was not originally hired to play Gunnery Sgt. Hartman but as a consultant for the Marine Corps boot camp portion of the film. He performed a demonstration on videotape in which he yelled obscene insults and abuse for 15 minutes without stopping, repeating himself or even flinching - despite being continuously pelted with tennis balls and oranges. Stanley Kubrick was so impressed that he cast Ermey as Hartman.

That happens at work sometimes when a new person is supposed to send a broadcast email to a particular group, but instead misses his/her global address list by one or two letters. Then you get a series or replies like you described. It's fun to look through some of the distribution lists; occasionally we find the CEO or regional presidents. You just have to shake your head, laugh and look at all those people who've just had their hopes of getting promoted die then and there. :)

This made me laugh out loud. Well done.
