Re: TRP: More metal than your mother

*sigh* Not that I'm comparing Swansong to James Bond, but...

Vesper Lynd: If the only thing left of you was your smile and your little finger, you'd still be more of a man than anyone I've ever known.

James Bond: That's because you know what I can do with my little finger...

Now that would be a story about how you broke your little finger! :D

Re: TRP: More metal than your mother

The estate isn't settled yet? When I had power of attorney for my parents, my accountant reminded me continually that" no good deed goes unpunished"
My mom's in the memory care unit of a nursing home. She's still kicking.

I think the answer sort of wrote itself after asking the question. I just hated to do it as I'm pretty sure that my nephew that just graduated is/was her favorite.

Re: TRP: More metal than your mother

Back from my cousin's wedding.

The ugly: the bride's family is, as my normally reserved uncle put it, "*ed up." She's great, though. When she moved their stuff to NC, her dad (an over-the-road trucker who had to deliver a load to that region), CHARGED her for moving her stuff, and wouldn't help unload it.

The bad: way too much country played. And not one single girl, although a few were really nice to look at, including a 5'11" redhead. And the weather sucked, too.

The good: seeing my aforementioned uncle towards the end of the night dancing with a glow-stick headband on, telling us every so often "Man, I am *ED. UP!" Also overhearing stories from the tablefull of my uncle's drunk co-workers who are all cops. :D

Also seeing my cousin and the rest of the family, although my grandpa is quickly declining in mental/physical capacity. :(

Sorry to hear about your grandpa. :(

Why did you go all reverse using The Good last?

Good on the splint. A buddy broke his pinky, didn't have it splinted, and now he's got a kind of a claw finger. He can't straighten it at all.

That sucks. Good luck to you and yours. It's not the funnest thing going, that's for certain.

Your right hand and you're not the Hendrix or McCartney sort, correct? Just put a nail file tip on the end of it and you won't have to hold a pick for those strumming tracks.

Thanks. He's 90, so it's not like he hasn't lived a full life and all. Just seeing him go from a pillar to senile is tough. He's the last of my grandparents that is still alive (and I grew up with all 4 grandparents, and 3 great-grandparents still alive until my early teens  ). I think that's why this is really tough to see.

He doesn't have the dementia quite yet (as in his short term memory is gone, but long-term is still there), so that's good. The physical part is the most noticeable. He probably should have a cane/walker/etc, but he's like most of my family: too dam proud/stubborn. That part makes me kinda happy and wants to puff my chest out. To me, that's inner strength. :o :)

Re: TRP: More metal than your mother

My friend that I am staying with in Hungary had a party on Saturday. It got going about 10 am, people got drunk and 19 people spent the night, and the thing broke up about 6 pm on Sunday. Who knew these crazy Hungarians had that in them?

Re: TRP: More metal than your mother

Wow. Reading back from my last post was quite the trip. Thanks for that, you all.

ETA: Yup:

And I had to add this:

Just bonged a beer from a vuvuzela...this place is only doing good for me
