TRP: Booty Traps Edition

Re: TRP: Booty Traps Edition

So, I had a fun little afternoon. I've been having a minor ache above my right eye, kinda like a headache, for the past couple of days. Today I bend over to set a part down, and got a little dizzy/blurred vision/discombobulated. Not a good feeling. Notified the boss.

He had me sit down for a bit, and asked if I felt like I could work (doing some lighter stuff). Sure. So I do that. But about half hour later, my right eyelid starts twitching/spasming a little. And a little more. And also, my eye starts closing shut. This goes on for about half an hour until the eye is completely closed, and I have to work for it to open.

So I go tell boss, and he drives me across the way to urgent care. They do all sorts of basic nerve tests and such, and vision tests. I pass all of them. Doctor comes to 3 possible conclusions: a) stroke. Not *ing likely, if at all possible, given the test results. b) a minor case of Bell's Palsy, which was more likely than Option A but still not *ing likely. c) Migrain variant, which we both agreed was probably the case.

So, what is that? Well, a migraine hangs around a while in one spot, then usually takes over the whole head, causing much pain. A variant will not spread, just hang in one spot, and "short circuit" the brain/nerves whatever for a bit, then disappear, which this did (as doc was explaining this to me, my eye started opening up and stopped twitching, in fact).

Anyway, no caffeine for 24 hours (my boss thought that was hilarious, hardy har har, you *er), and no operating heavy machinery/etc for 48 hours. Also, if this happens again in the next week or so, I get to go in for a bunch of scans. Whee fun.

I used to get Migraines often, quit coffee and the frequency went way down. I see wavy translucent lines, then my head wants to explode. It wasn't easy to quit coffee I;ll tell you that much:D

Good luck with that, hope it all turns out to be (relatively speaking) minor!

Yikes. I hope for your sake it is just the migraine variant, and I'm glad you're ok.

Re: TRP: Booty Traps Edition

Thanks, all, and I do too. Although if it was Bell's, you know that I would be doing countless Jim "JR" Ross impressions at hockey get-togethers. ;)

And does this sound like anyone we know?

(612): Apparently he doesn't remember leaving the bar
(651): If I spent $100 at the bar and didn't get laid I wouldn't want to remember anything either

I'd be all for you having Bell's Palsy just so long as you promise not to do JR.

The Milwaukee airport has a room set aside for traveler's called the "Recombobulation Area."

It turns out that Wisconsin can get two things first - beer and airport humor. The two seem to fit together so naturally, too.

That sucks, dude. My sister has been getting migraines for years and they're not pleasant. Like Walrus mentioned, quitting caffeine might help; she's also been cutting down on some other foods that might also be triggers, and it's seemed to be more useful than various painkillers she's tried.
