Re: TRP: Blizzards, Bacon, and Beer

According to the Köppen Climate Classification System Denver is in climatic zone BSk, which refers to a dry semiarid setting also known as steppe. This is a dry climate, but is not desert, which is classified in climate zone BW (dry arid or true desert). There is not any true desert in Colorado.

<-----Teaches weather and climate :D :p

Now back to something else that noone really cares about. ;) :D
No no no. It's mountains. MOUNTAINS.

:D

Re: TRP: Blizzards, Bacon, and Beer

Well, got an interesting email. Good news and bad news, I guess.

My cousin, who's in the Navy, has a tour-ending date of July 2010. However, he recently received a two-year order to go to Bahrain (would be the second time, that we know of, that he's been there). We're thinking they're trying to rope him in to sign on for another tour (best case) or declare some sort of "emergency situation" so he has to serve out the Bahrain orders. Officially, he'll be on a ship that does minesweeps. I'm proud that he's serving our country, but now that he wants to move on in life, I really hope nothing stops that.

Some thoughts and prayers are asked for.

A little backstory, which adds to this a bit: he joined the Navy in June 2001, right out of high school. Basically just out of bootcamp when 9/11 happened, and he was shipped over very soon after that. Talk about "bad" timing.

Here is to hoping he has a choice. I am currently working on getting in, but obviously that is my choice. I would never want someone who doesn't want to do it anymore to have to. That just blows.

Re: TRP: Blizzards, Bacon, and Beer

either way, it's a lot more humid back in the motherland. It's dry and hot out here, which has made me soft. Although I laugh at the people that are like OMG I can't breathe! :D

I'm a smoker, and I had no problems. :)

And SoH: It's not like he'd mind a WHOLE lot, but he knows he doesn't want to be a career guy, and every tour he adds on, he gets that much closer to becoming said career guy.

If you hang around for too long, at some point because of the retirement benefits, you almost can't afford to get out. My dad hit 8 years, decided he was almost 1/2 way there, and stayed in even though he hadn't originally planned to.

Exactly what I was getting at.

That's why my brother switched from the Army to the MN Air Guard. He finished his 20 in the Reserves, more or less.

Evening, peasants.

When are you going to make it to Vals, Brent? Are you actually coming to Cloud for our series in a couple weeks?

I'm planning on going to Sat's Tech game, and I'd like to get to Val's around 3ish, eat, and then head to the Dugout for the pre-game (like we did last year).

However, I just have to figure out who I'm riding with. IIRC, it's between BPH and bbdl, since whoever drives me gets free Val's. :D
