All three of them have kids and have multiple tours in both Iraq and Afghanistan. Them wanting out does not make me question their heroism.

I should say not. Predators would be our best bet here for several reasons.


Meanwhile, Gabe Ramirez (photojournalist) from CNN is describing a second suspect in custody. The first is naked guy, who is described as looking "white," the second is described as looking "Middle Eastern."

Ramirez had earlier suggested naked guy looked like suspect #1.

Maybe he could store it in a body cavity. I'm thinking of that Denzel Washington movie where a bad guy had something blow up in his a*s. That would work for me.

CNN just showed two even newer photos of #1 and #2. Full face. Much clearer than anything seen earlier. Including the two pictures released just an hour ago. These are newer than that.

CNN doubling down on their reporting that two suspects are in custody. They've got Ramirez on the air now.

No mention of any dead suspect. CNN now showing pixelated video of naked guy being loaded into the back seat of a cop car. Low light, grainy video, but he has dark hair and a middleweight build. Could very easily be of Middle Eastern extraction.

Somewhere Alex Jones is on the floor, whimpering.

These 2nd team CNN guys are at pains to say we don't know what this guy is being arrested for. It's pretty common police procedure to strip arrestees, right?

Scanners can be great sources. But the bigger the event. The more jurisdictions involved, the higher likelihood of inaccurate information.

Side note: Jake Tapper (who's been doing a great job) keeps saying the suspect was "asked" to take off his clothes. Uh, no, Jake. They gave him a choice, take off your clothes or we'll blow a hole in your head big enough to pass a baseball through.

Also, the police scanner we have access to is apparently the open channel. THere's another channel that's apparently encrypted.

Most jurisdictions have digitized their tactical channels, which has required the media to make big investments in the digital receivers. You'll hear them refer to switching to some number channel, which is one of the digitized ones that can't be heard unless you invest in expensive equipment. I've never been totally clear whether it's to avoid snoops (not the media, because they'll pay for the digital receivers) or the public. Or whether it's because the digital channels are more effective communications tools. Or both. Bottom line, particularly with big cities and big agencies, they're gonna be communicating digitally. The old radio shack 29.95 scanner won't get the job done anymore.

We all understand that this has the feel of the end game. Evidently confidence is high that two are in custody. Not quite as certain if one is still on the loose. In any event, we may have broken this case. Remember, apparently no internet "chatter," nobody taking credit. This seems like a huge success. Great FBI technology (try to imagine the number of images they had to scan to find the various pictures we've seen) finding and identifying the bomb parts. Plus some as yet not fully known cooperation from the public. Put 'em all together and it looks like this ruthless Beavis and Butthead have been identified and (we hope) captured. What remains to be seen is how many accomplices there may have been. The Feebs are frequently the object of scorn and derision (I've been guilty of that myself) but if they've broken this case in less than 96 hours, it shows why they're the best national police force in the world.


CNN now backing off two in custody. Evidently they had two pieces of video of one suspect, one with clothes, one without. So only one in custody. And presumably one still on the loose.

It's sounding more and more like black hat f*ker is dead and white hat c*t is on the run.
