there's a good buck in that racket.
Think about how much it would cost to Uber around the city.
It's not that expensive.
Relatively speaking to other metros. If one adds in service level.....

I've never had a problem with the T. *shrug* But I've also never really gone beyond the inner ring of Boston.
Handy, you seeing any of the 'reverse racism' down there that the right is yammering about? Of course, IIRC Capetown is pretty white, so...
Boston is one city that drives me nuts to drive in. I could get from my parents house in Westwood to Fenway Park or the Grimey Garden OK. Anywhere else was a crapshoot especially Allston and Watson/Bright.
I have to drive my friends to the airport Monday. I will make sure to visit this thread when I get back (probably close to the next day) to go off on how crazy you are.I know I am in the minority but I always loved driving in Boston. It is 1/1000th the density of New York, it was possible to get curb parking virtually anywhere any time except on peak Friday and Saturday night, and the drivers were neither insane nor bad, they were merely balls out aggressive and to me that's fine if you know what you're doing.
This was the 80s-90s. I can't speak for now.
I'm sure I'd hate it now that I am more laid back but at the time (my 20s) it was a really fun place to get around.
Plus, 80% of the cool places to go in Boston are not in Boston, they are in Cambridge or Sommerville or Arlington.

From what I've seen/heard from Slap Shot, Asian drivers are friggin' nuts. NYers would even be "*** DUDE? JESUS, THERE ARE LAWS YOU KNOW!!!!!!!!!!!"I don't travel abroad much, but I have driven in most major U.S. cities. From what I've seen, American drivers are relatively careful and like to follow rules. Inner city Istanbul is chaos and makes Manhattan look like driver's ed school. Drivers in Guyana are Kamikaze. A lot of posters here travel abroad a lot and would have a better perspective.

Cairo drivers fill the road.... as in two lane highways become 3 wide or four wide when available.... and not just to fill and stop, but to drive the speed limit and over with inches between cars....and drive well with no bump drafting. They are the best drivers on earth.

All you need to remember when going to Logan is to leave 5 minutes early for every mile you have to drive.
Also since they finalized the finalization of the second revision of the tunnels nobody has any right to complain about going to Logan anymore, it's a breeze. In my day.... (shakes fist at urine-soaked blue line train).
I’m driving 275 miles to Logan tomorrow. Your formula says I need to leave 22 hours early

I got in a German taxi once, driven by a Turkish immigrant.
“You care if I go fast?”
“Haha, nope. You do what you need.”
“OHHHH! Brave American! I like it.”
*proceeds to go 140 on the autobahn*
That said, Germans are the best drivers I have ever seen. The worst are FIBs. The worst I’ve heard about are Indian and southeast Asian.
