Transition into the WCHA: What should BSU, UNO expect?

4four4

Legend in everybodys mind
First off welcome to the meat grind what we fans know as the WCHA.

I am curious what should BSU and UNO expect this upcoming season?

IMO, playing WCHA teams in non-conference action is a completely different animal. Which both teams will come to expect.

The rivalry games will come over time and starting an original cheer we be the norm.

This league is not the CCHA and the CHA. It is a different world and we don't expect either school to do anything.;) In fact we all expect to beat the living daylights out of BSU and UNO.

Good luck because you are going to need it.

They should expect to beat Minnesota. Everyone else does. :(

Re: Transition into the WCHA: What should BSU, UNO expect?

BSU's winning percentage will drop .200, and UNO's will drop .100.

You are underestimating these programs, they may not contend for home ice next year, although UNO has a pretty decent roster coming back but both programs will eventually end up being just as competitive as the SCSU, CC and UMD's. The fact that they are now in the WCHA will bring in players they never thought of getting before...

If you knew how to read, you'd see that he's asking what they should expect THIS UPCOMING SEASON. No one is saying that they won't compete a couple years down the road.

Re: Transition into the WCHA: What should BSU, UNO expect?

Both BSU and UNO have played many WCHA teams over the years, so they already know exactly what will be coming at them in terms of talent, systems and effort.

The big difference will be playing a steady diet of these truly difficult opponents vs. playing them from time to time. The "wear-down" factor of playing this mostly high level of team each week, all year, is that depth becomes crucial, and goaltending, special teams and third/fourth line contributions seperate the top half and the bottom half of the standings.

Both BSU and UNO will have good nights and tough nights, but playing consistently in a league with a very small margin for error makes will take some time to master.

As usual, Puck Swami is right on.

BSU should be prepared to assume the name of a Brady Bunch character, probably that nerdy little cousin who looked like Paul Williams. :D

:D
Cousin Oliver.

They haven't played UW, they don't have any idea what they are in for. ;)

Luckily for UNO they have a head coach who had some pretty decent success in the league.

I think both can be in the hunt for home ice, but I don't think either will get it...

Until further notice - four free points from Michigan Tech.

A good time.

These are all good answers.

i would add that they should expect to be amused by the Wooger. But you don't need to be in the WCHA for that...
Also expect Happy to track your progress up and down the Tubes.
