They're actually sitting on a budget surplus and won't give anything back to us or spend it on schools which for the most part have massive budget shortfalls.Your surplus tax dollars hard at work. Wisconsin must be rolling in money and no real problems to solve. This country is so messed up.
The rulesNo, enforce the rules and follow the process as laid out.
"However, it becomes a violation if:"The rules
- Yes, players from different teams can talk to each other about transferring.
- But it becomes a violation if that contact is directed or coordinated by coaches, staff, or boosters.
1. What the NCAA actually prohibits
Under NCAA “tampering” rules, coaches, staff, or school representatives cannot contact a player at another school until that player enters the transfer portal.
If they do, it’s considered impermissible contact (tampering) and can lead to violations.
2. Player-to-player conversations
If two players who already know each other (friends, former teammates, etc.) talk on their own, that’s generally not against the rules.
However, it becomes a violation if:
- A coach tells a player to contact someone on another team.
- A booster or staff member uses a player as a messenger to recruit someone.
In those cases the NCAA would consider it indirect recruiting/tampering.
3. Once a player enters the transfer portal
After a player’s name is officially in the transfer portal:
- Coaches can contact them.
- Other schools can recruit them openly.
Does that mean you think more players will want to stay because Frost is out?Last year there were 7 without a coaching change, but I think it'll be less this time.
I think in five of the seven transfer cases last year the players were looking for more playing time—and one of the two others didn't find a taker at all. There aren't as many of those on this year's team.Does that mean you think more players will want to stay because Frost is out?
Looking more for how it might affect incoming recruits, I just read an article: what I got out of it is that - outside the 'regular' portal window - current athletes and recruits get a 15 day window, but not until the new coach is hired, unless there is no new coach announced for 30 days. In that case, the 15-day "coaching change" window opens. But with this announcement overlapping with the regular window, current players will be able to enter the portal next Monday. They might get a longer window, or a second window (?) depending on the timing of the new coach being announced. Recruits looking to de-commit might have to wait for the new coach being announced.Does anything change for the players if there is a coaching change?
Look for an announcement Monday and then a mass exit from another team.Looking more for how it might affect incoming recruits, I just read an article: what I got out of it is that - outside the 'regular' portal window - current athletes and recruits get a 15 day window, but not until the new coach is hired, unless there is no new coach announced for 30 days. Corrections to any of that always welcomed.
The FOX-9 article said that AD Mark Coyle "plans to speak with reporters on Monday, March 23". I wondered if there was any particular significance to waiting until then, other than staying quiet until the season is fully over.Look for an announcement Monday and then a mass exit from another team.
