Transfer Portal - 2024

Not everyone has to wait for the portal to 'open' to put their name in.

22 names added to the list since the first of Feb, with a number of names already there beforehand.

The biggest name (to me, anyway, but what do I know?) is Josey Dunne of Minnesota, whose career for whatever reason(s) just never did take off. I hope she finds a spot to get in one good, healthy year.

What is it with Maine, Lindenwood, and Sacred Heart? These seem to be the "usual suspects" when it comes to the portal.
 
Anyone know who has the access to the raw data? I'm curious about DIII players entering, especially after the success of Ann-Frederique Guay at Maine...I get why these sites only care about DI but would love to do my own research if anyone has a tip on where to find this info...

As far as Lindenwood goes, that has been a toxic mess for the past 4-5 years, since SL was hired. SL was fired due to a majority of the team going to the AD. This new hire, I hear, doesn't have much of the room either and as I'm told, forced the departure of some girls this season. So far, the recruits she has brought in have not been very good and any new girls incoming best be on guard for their time there. It isn't pretty, I've heard from some currently there. Thankfully, mine hasn't been there in a couple years but stays in touch with a few that are still there.

That has been the biggest factor, as she has missed so much time due to injury. Coupled with that, she has then found herself out of the mix on the blue line (I believe that was her natural position coming in), and getting sparse minutes at forward.

Wasylk and Coad were very well regarded in their DIII roles and Lindenwood improved by 6 wins and 2 ties over last season. I sympathize for anyone losing their spot but I'm curious as to how these results were achieved if the new coaches don't have buy in from much of the room.

SL was highly regarded as well but not so much by a majority of those that played for her. As I said, mine is no longer there, I was sharing what she was told by those that are currently there.
 
A new coach favors new players, it is really not hard to figure out. And if that new reality is not in line with the actual talent, it causes hard feelings in the locker room. That's why you often see a mass exodus on teams when a new coach shows up. It's just not hockey specific either. As far as the Lindenwood teams, I thought the team looked the best with the guy before Looney. That's going back and that team was not great by any means but, on any game day they might be able to pull an upset. The team seems to be far from that but, you have to be impressed with their last two games against RMU.

as I understand it, the whole University is kinda messy and a challenging place to work. That kind of environment seems to attract bad coaches.

When Hastings took over the UW men, a few guys left, but it was not a mass exodus, none of old top end guys left. I think a player can also look at it as a chance to get better as a player under the new coach, who had an old coach leading them nowhere. The new guys he brought in are sprinkled through the line-up, line 1 thru 4.

King of Maine will graduate and go for a masters degree and has her Covid 5th year of eligibility next season. So she is likely hoping for a spot at a school fitting her masters aspirations.

Wherever Josey lands, I sincerely hope she is able to get healthy and show what she can do. I will be rooting for her!

LOL, no, not that I am aware of. It might make sense since two of her Sisters played here previously and her other Sister is here now, but no, the Muzzinator did not get her already. At least I have not heard anything yet. Wherever she lands, I hope she is able to get healthy and get on the ice!
 
Sounds like Vermont top scorer (and senior) Natalie Mlynkova is taking her UVM degree and using her 5th year elsewhere. I am hearing Duluth but getting it secondhand.
 
I'm sure it's a done deal like last year for Ohio State's incoming transfers, just have to wait for the portal to open to make it official.
Any idea on who those top forwards and defensemen will be?

A "done deal" prior to a person entering the portal would be an NCAA recruiting violation.
