Nope. Congrats... The guy who's primary job is to put pucks in the net has 0.08 more points per game than the guy who's primary job is to keep pucks out of the net. A 1.03 ppg for a defenseman is like. 1.75 for a forward

Had it not been for Juho Olkinuora, Denver would not be in a position to get themselves into the NCAA Tourny. He has been a big surprise and has knocked Adam Murray down the 3rd String.

Almost. The guy who's job it is to put pucks in the net has done so 15 times. The guy who's job it is to keep the puck out of the net has 23 assists. And has played four more games.

1.75? Where did you come up with that number? Is there some formula I'm not aware of that changes PPG based on position, because I'd love to see it.

On a related note, I'd like to do away with second assists. Yes, some are earned by making nice plays, but too often they are the equivilant to giving the center an assist on a touchdown for hiking the football.

I think they're fine as long as they don't pad the stats with phantom assists. I've seen some "creative" corrections in scoring that award a secondary assist that were certainly a stretch.

I'm not really a fan. I see more that aren't worthy of being recorded than I care to see.

Gaudreau (BC) is having himself a great freshmen year as well, but the talent around him is much better, and that helps. There's no doubt in my mind that Lalegglia is doing the same thing in Denver. That helps both those guys with their points totals. And I'm not, in the least, trying to take away from Wilson's linemates, but the talent level around him (if judged by NHL Draft picks) on the UML roster is nowhere close.

That also means Wilson has far less competition to earn ice time. I imagine he's seeing a lot more minutes/PP time (and has significantly less risk of having that taken away if he slumps) at Lowell than he would at a place like BC or Minnesota.

That's probably a fair argument. But that also means (at least in this case) that he's out there during power plays, penalty kills etc. He's just been very good for our program. He only has 4 PP goals (out of his 15), so his goals aren't coming just from the man-advantage. Unfortunately I can't find the total points during power plays for him. LaLegglia has 3 PP goals to his credit, but again the assist numbers aren't easily available. They're both a +13 as well.

BTW, using your argument also means that he's being focused on because of his talents, and he's still putting up the points.

Either way, we're debating a couple of very good players.

Sorry, NCAA hockey isn't my life like it is yours. But what else is there to do when you are sentenced to live in Lowell, Mass?

For the record, Wilson is hands down HE ROTY. NESN are a bunch of morons pimping Gaudreau. He plays on BC...he has tons of talent around him.
