Top 27 best movies - ever

Re: Top 27 best movies - ever

I think you could go on for a long time about movies that are based, at least in part, on Kurosawa movies. My personal favorite is, of course, Star Wars.

The Legend of the Lone Ranger
Best offensively bad cowboy movie ever

How bad is it when you spend millions on an epic starring an unknown latent heterosexual (Klinton Spilsbury) WHOSE VOICE HAS TO BE DUBBED IN? The guy made one movie in his "career," and that's one too many. If you haven't seen it, please, please take my word for it. If you have, how's that therapy coming?

Younger posters may not remember that the people responsible for inflicting this hideous dreck on an unsuspecting public also saw fit to take legal action against Clayton Moore. TV's original Lone Ranger had been making a living for decades, in costume and mask, in TV commercials, at county fairs and other venues. The producers wanted to make sure nobody mistook Moore (who WAS the ranger for a whole generation) with their pathetic movie, so they got a judge to declare Moore couldn't wear the mask. He responded by wearing shades that looked an awful lot like the mask. His business improved markedly, because thousands of Americans were p*ssed that Hollywood big shots wanted to deny the old man a chance to make a living. Besides, HE was the Lone Ranger, not that jumped up hairdresser. Ultimately, Moore prevailed in court and once again began wearing the costume and mask. Hi Yo Silver, away.

89) Dave

---best aliens invade earth movie

Re: Top 27 best movies - ever

28) Rounders
--- best poker movie.

Not The Cincinnati Kid? Though that last hand of five-card stud was totally implausible.

Edit: Actually, the best poker movie had Henry Fonda in it, and he had a heart attack during the game, and so his wife, played by Joanne Woodward, stood in to take his place, and then when it came to be her turn to bet, she took his/her cards to the town banker to get a bank loan using her poker hand as collateral!

A Big Hand for the Little Lady.
