Game Update Post but feel free to chime in during the game
3rd Period:
- Puck has dropped for the third period here at the X!
- Kevin Sneddon makes a tremendous defensive play. Boyle and Gerbe were coming in on a 2x1 after a turnover in the neutral zone, and Sneddon gives up his body to stop Gerbe's pass to Boyle. A lot of neutral zone play early on, but Sneddon has been playing a tremendous game from the blue line. 17:00 left in the 3rd.
- Harvard playing tremendous defense right now. BC has had the majority of the puck possession, but Harvard has stepped up and forced BC to try to outmatch them physically. So far, that hasn't happened. Under 14:00 left in the 3rd.
- BC starting to win some battles along the boards and generate some opportunities, but nothing of substance yet. 12:00 left in the 3rd.
- BC draws a penalty! BC continued to heap on pressure, and Harvard handled it until Kevan Melrose gets called for holding Matt Lombardi behind the Harvard net. 10:44 left in the 3rd.
- Nathan Gerbe Scores!!! Boyle wins an offensive zone draw, and the puck goes to Gerbe who skates over to the slot, and wrists one top shelf that beats Roy high to the blocker side. We have a Tie Game!!
- Motherwell nearly gives BC the lead!! BC is dominating play right now, and Motherwell takes a feed from below the near circle, and rips a slapshot that goes just high. All BC right now. 9:00 left in the 3rd.
- Sneddon forced to ice the puck, and the Crimson look absolutely gassed. Coach Cleary is calling his timeout to try to regroup his team. 7:00 left in the 3rd.
- Harvard regaining a little bit of composure and momentum late in the third, as the MacDonald-Ciavaglia-Young trio nearly teamed up for another goal when they came in on a 3x2, but Young's pass to MacDonald was broken up by Andrew Orpik, and we're still even at 3 with 4:30 left in the 3rd.
- Boyle with another great chance! This time, Motherwell fired a slapper that was deflected in front of Roy, and Boyle got the puck to his stick, and fired a wrister, but Roy was up to the task with a brilliant glove save. Under 3:00 left in the 3rd.
- Lane MacDonald Scores!!! The Hobey winner came in with the puck on a 2x1 with Ciavaglia, and fed Ciavaglia at the bottom of the far circle. Ciavaglia then faked a wrister, sending Carl Sneep sliding by Schneider, and fed a beautiful pass over to MacDonald, who tapped the puck into the open net to give Harvard the go-ahead goal with just 2:08 left in the 3rd!
- BC trying to mount a rally, and they have pulled Schneider with just over 1 minute left in the 3rd.
- Lane MacDonald Scores!! The Hobey winner gets the hattrick. As BC was mounting pressure with the extra attacker, Sneddon made a tremendous block on a wrister from the slot by Boyle. The puck bounced out of the zone, and C.J. Young raced to the puck. All by himself, Young waited for MacDonald to catch up with him, and let MacDonald tap it in for the hattrick. Harvard up 5-3 now with just 31 seconds left!
- That's it! Harvard wins, and advances to the Round of 64 beating BC 5-3 here in St. Paul.
- Shots on Goal in the 3rd: Boston College - 13 (35 total), Harvard - 11 (38 total)
