To The Joe! 2011 CCHA Championship Edition: UM, ND, MU, WMU

Re: To The Joe! 2011 CCHA Championship Edition: UM, ND, MU, WMU

Ran a few scenarios, I think all four are in. Frankly, ND is the most vulnerable but they can definitely secure a spot with a win today (sorry). I think Miami can secure a #1 with a win, or if they lose, if Merrimack and Denver both lose.

All Western needed was 1 win and they were in. Notre Dame is in, so all 4 CCHA teams are now safely in which is good for the conference ahving a min of 4 teams in the last several years. Hopefully the conf. can keep the streak up of sending a team to the FF like they have the last few years as well.

Didn't expect that to happen at all last night. I still think the Joe is a lot more fun with a bunch of Yoopers around. But that's just me though.

Agreed. And the CCHA Championship Party is a lot more fun with an open bar and more than 25 people. At least subsidize the bar... Students and young alumni can't afford $7/beer and $8/glass of wine.

#3 seed Miami will be the team to beat.

As I was saying...

If all four #1 seeds make the Frozen Four, those will be four very talented teams and something I'll look forward to watching. But the CCHA has been known to have a team do not so well in the CCHA playoffs and then make the Frozen Four.

Great win for the program. Nice to get that monkey off our backs. Nice to have that RED & WHITE banner hanging in Joe Louis Arena for a year!

Re: To The Joe! 2011 CCHA Championship Edition: UM, ND, MU, WMU

Think you guys really underestimated how important Wohlberg is to your team. Capporusso has had a poor year by his standards and with wohlberg out a team can key in on hagelin and handicap your offense. Was really surprised how quickly hunwick lost his cool last night, getting involved with players around his crease ect.. Will be interesting to see the attendance today. It was embarrasing in the first game and even the night cap didn't seem packed on tv atleast.
No, I don't think that is the case... not when you lose your second leading goal scorer AND lose one of your top four d-men for the weekend due to illness.

Congrats to Miami.

hey miami quit stealing our cheers that we stole from Cornell over 20 years ago. MSU would like their song book back too.

Congrats on the win. Maybe you can win a few more and turn into a real dynasty.

You could hear the Miami fans cheering?? Heh! I guess if you was close. Western Mich fans showed up and sure as heck acted like they've been there before. Pity so few Miami fans bother to show up to the Joe. And they're suppost to be one of the better programs left in the CCHA when the BTCH happens. Snort! NMU travels better than that.

We've been playing those songs for as long as I've been watching Miami hockey so I can't help you there. As for the goal chant, it's as much ours as anyone's.

Good luck in the Tourney.

Congrats on a good season. Took a former Miami assistant to reinvigorate your listless program.

Re: To The Joe! 2011 CCHA Championship Edition: UM, ND, MU, WMU

Miami could have at least put their own spin on the goal cheer. WMU stole it, but at least they changed it a bit to make their own.

FYI, waving your hands up and down during Jump Around is not jumping

But then we'd be stealing "jump around badgers." You can't have it both ways :)

Congrats to Miami on winning their first Mason Cup. Good luck to all 4 teams from the league in the Ncaa tournment.

wastern fans DID NOT act like they've been there before. During the award ceremony when Miami players were being recognized the wastern fans were chanting "Let's go Broncos". Absolutely pathetic...

Agreed. I was there all weekend and while experiencing the beatdown we got from both you and Miami, your respective fans were leaps and bounds better than Westerns. Ive been to many a hockey game, within the CCHA as well as other conferences and I have to say that I think Western fans are the worst college hockey fans as far as respect and class in the entire Division One. Made it an easy choice to root for the Redhawks to take home Sir Mason

You're right. And in Grand Rapids in 2004 when your students were experiencing succesful hockey for the first time, I should have gone over to them and told them to shut the hell up instead of continuing to cheer for their team after they had been eliminated. Such reactions were clearly beneath such classy chaps as Notre Dame students.

This coming from someone who roots for a team that played their own fight song throughout the trophy presentation when Notre Dame won the Mason Cup in 2009. I have no problem with a defeated UM having their band play after losing, but this was substantially after the game had ended. Fans in the stands, on their own and proud of their team chanting in unison is one thing. A pep band, with a representative of their university in their band leader, playing over another schools moment is completely different. Let me guess, you're also the type that screams for a penalty every time one of your players hits the ice and when an opponent goes down its a dive...

WeAreND, please check your rep....I didn't feel like getting into it on this thread.

Congratulations to Miami. (that pains me to type)

Good luck to all the CCHA teams in the tournament.
