To The Joe! 2011 CCHA Championship Edition: UM, ND, MU, WMU

Re: To The Joe! 2011 CCHA Championship Edition: UM, ND, MU, WMU

Western's Mason Cup (or whatever it was called then) doesn't count. I was watching Thundercats at the time.:p

In 24 hours, I'll be on the road to Detroit! Can't wait to check in at the RenCen and then get over to JLA. I'm really looking forward to all of the match-ups this weekend. As has been stated many times already, this CCHA Championship appears to have the strongest field that we've seen in a number of years. With major implications for the NCAAs and, of course, the Mason Cup on the line, we should be in for four very exciting hockey games!

I'm glad some of you fans are coming, ... but what's up with this (thanks to Yostbuilt):

There are also enough students at Miami from the metro Detroit area that driving up on a fan bus and returning that night is not necessary when you have a friend's floor to crash on, especially if you are planning on hanging around for Saturday's games. And as jd said, this was announced sometime yesterday afternoon after everyone had made their plans.

As others have already mentioned, it's the typical Miami Athletics fail. We expect it, though we are not happy about it. Maybe someday they'll figure things out BEFORE the week of the tournament.

I'll just have to make up for the lack of students. I don't expect to have a voice left by the end of Friday, so hopefully the RenCen party's open bar will help my vocal chords heal in time for Saturday's games :p

It's "Hockey in the D" Day!

Hitting the road in an hour. See you in Detroit!

Re: To The Joe! 2011 CCHA Championship Edition: UM, ND, MU, WMU

Good Luck to all. Better luck to the Irish. Everyone be safe driving to the D for what should be a very memorable hockey weekend.

Re: To The Joe! 2011 CCHA Championship Edition: UM, ND, MU, WMU

Abnormal people don't get my excitement at spending nearly 2 days in Detroit, nearly all of it with fellow college hockey fans, and likely 18 hours of it rinkside this time of year. But I'm positively giddy that I get to head that way in about 45 minutes.

Re: To The Joe! 2011 CCHA Championship Edition: UM, ND, MU, WMU

Ummm.....does anyone know if Notre Dame's team made it to the Joe? I showed up for the early game because I was expecting it to be exciting.

Re: To The Joe! 2011 CCHA Championship Edition: UM, ND, MU, WMU

I'm a little disappointed that I don't have a rooting interest in the CCHA Tourney this year.

I'm also saddened that I won't have to make emergency plans to watch my team yet again. :(

*edit* No free stream on Fox Sports Detroit.com? Weak FSN-D and the CCHA, weak.

Just dominating performance. Miami made a statment tonight. Irish lost their heads a little but that happens. Miami took control early and never looked back. Tough to beat Miami when their top guys are getting 3 and 4 points apiece. They had their offensive zone cycle working well, puck movement was fantastic, and found a lot of space. I wish they didn't let Notre Dame back in it in the second a little but you knew the Irish were going to make a run. However it never felt that Miami was in danger of losing.

Look forward to tomorrow, hope we play michigan so they can dominate for 50 min. and us be given a win again... seriously streaker lol

If it is a Miami-Michigan final it will be for the #1 seed in St. louis, loser gets the #2 seed in St. louis. Should be fun and intense like always.

Side note, its an absolute disgrace that Jeff Blashill from Western Michigan didn't win conference coach of the year. No disrespect to Jeff Jackson he did a nice job, but seriously? Western has been the doormat of the conf. for the last decade and he comes in and they get a top 4 finish and go to the joe for the first time in over a decade. Not sure if the coaches just vote themselves but whoever votes should be ashamed of themselves.

pathetic is the only word that describes tonight's performance. Worst performance I have witnessed by Michigan since Bowling Green beat us last season. effing pathetic. Someone needs to light a fire under these guys' butts.

Fixed your post

Thanks. I was just about to do that myself.

Congratulations to Western. They wanted it more and it showed.

I was glad to see so many Western fans there, it was fun having a good fan base there to cheer against.

I'll be interested in seeing what happens tomorrow and with the pairwise, but here's hoping that all 4 CCHA teams at the Joe this weekend might make the tourney.

Ran a few scenarios, I think all four are in. Frankly, ND is the most vulnerable but they can definitely secure a spot with a win today (sorry). I think Miami can secure a #1 with a win, or if they lose, if Merrimack and Denver both lose.

Think you guys really underestimated how important Wohlberg is to your team. Capporusso has had a poor year by his standards and with wohlberg out a team can key in on hagelin and handicap your offense. Was really surprised how quickly hunwick lost his cool last night, getting involved with players around his crease ect.. Will be interesting to see the attendance today. It was embarrasing in the first game and even the night cap didn't seem packed on tv atleast.
