Times Argus

Re: Times Argus

4- 0 Norwich over Curry 42 shots vs 14 Could have been much worse for Curry, Jakiel played outstanding in net

Re: Times Argus

Happy New Years to all. Norwich has to thank their defense for the low shots total on Klinger, and to Steve Coon for coming up huge for clearing the net in the second period. Norwich pulled it out in style despite struggling in the first. Again I say, this is a team that can go all the way, they need to do the basics and be disiplined to make a difference from the 08-09 team and the 09-10 team. The fact we have more snippers doesn't hurt at all. ;) It is always hard to judge a game based on shot totals, after all, it is a team game and defense plays a huge role. Kudos to all the players, you have heart and this could be a most celebrated 100th year yet. Congrats to Klinger, #3 shut out, you can be the best of them yet, I know it.:)

Times Argus story of the Norwich and Curry game with a great picture of Kyle Thomas bringing the puck into the zone. Curry came out very stong and had a slight edge in play for half the first period before Norwich started to take control. Norwich controled the corners and play with Curry content to float a couple of guys high trying to get the breakaway. I was suprised Norwich didn't break thru sooner with a score but the Curry goaltender stoped everything but the kitchen sink. A key to the game was Norwich's backchecking which prevented Curry from getting many good scoring chances. The big question is how can a team in the ECAC Northeast recruit players like Curry has this year. Of all the teams I have seen Norwich play this year Curry is the most talented after Plattsburgh which is in its own class. I though Curry team speed was almost as good as that of Norwich although Norwich had a lot more debth than Curry which was probable the deciding factor of the game.

Re: Times Argus

NU continues to amaze me. What a difference a year has made and this is only a rebuilding year that will see this crop of new faces transition into something stronger. Wow.

Clearly Curry is a very good team with loads of hustle and a superb goalie but these Cadets just keep out doing themselves. What a team! Good luck today and let the good times roll. Old Rook NU'66 :)

Re: Times Argus

I agree Norwich has been very impressive. The real test will be against Plattsburg on Tuesday. If they win that one then they, at this point, should be considered a real contender for a national title.

Re: Times Argus

Best save of the night was Steve Coon sweeping up the rebound in the second period that Klinger lost track of because it was behind him. If Curry had managed to get a goal off of that play, the whole complexion of the game would have changed.

Agree that was an AMAZING save...hope Klinger bought him lunch today...

Re: Times Argus

This group of kids are starting to look like the group that opened up the Berg. With the transition from D to Offense, back checking and goalie play, this team is fun to watch. If they keep working hard, who knows..... Curry is a very good team and played Norwich well, one of the better games I've seen in a while. Heading to the game tonight, should be another good one.
