Time to drop a deuce: the second MN Gopher Offseason Thread

Re: Time to drop a deuce: the second MN Gopher Offseason Thread

The only one intimidatd by the new Ralph is Kangas. Unfortunately, that is the last person that I would like to be.

Re: Time to drop a deuce: the second MN Gopher Offseason Thread

2 games were blowouts at the Ralph of 5. Or did everyone forget we didn't do as well as we should have against MN last year...

Based on the reading I've done this summer I'm pretty sure everyone has forgotten that very thing.

Re: Time to drop a deuce: the second MN Gopher Offseason Thread

I know one thing for sure, when it comes to college hockey in Minnesota, any of our MN teams playing the dirty UNDies gets my full and unconditional support.

I'm sure that means the world to Minnesota, UMD, SCSU, Mankato and Bemidji. Your support is just so inspirational.

Re: Time to drop a deuce: the second MN Gopher Offseason Thread

Go watch us host DU, CC or MTU... we've got a great crowd for those types of games.

I have, and no, you don't. I share season tickets to Clown just so I can watch WCHA hockey in person on a regular basis and the number of fans that show up for non-Gopher and non-Sioux games is often pathetic. The playoff games against the Mavs last year were especially sad.

When you can hear the MTU crowd on a constant basis.....that's just sad. Trust me, I know.

Shhhhh...dont disturb him...he probably thinks this is the late 90's/early 2000's when the fans at the Concrete Center actually showed up and gave a crap. But hey, they do have Cotton Eyed Joe! ;)

Re: Time to drop a deuce: the second MN Gopher Offseason Thread

I read a report recently that Gopher season ticket renewals hit 93% for the coming season. The rest of the available tickets were bought up by ravenous groups of risk taking, emotionally repressed bourgeoisie on the waiting list who possess the pocket change to throw in the donation. Not sure how the renewal % compares with previous seasons.

What is the number of seats occupied by season ticket holders?

Accounting for the student sections and corporate cluster**** at center ice, that probably leaves somewhere on the order of 6000 seats, which translates to roughly 400 vacancies - which means if the average ticket buyer opts for two seats, more than 3/4 of the people on the wait list who were offered the chance to purchase tickets declined.

Don't stop him, he's on a roll.

That is the number that the ticket office put out there (as quoted by the knowledgeable Sid Hartman) but I tend to think that number is a bit inflated.

Compared to other years though that is very low IIRC.

Sid is a homer but he knows everybody in the Minnesota mens sports department.

Re: Time to drop a deuce: the second MN Gopher Offseason Thread

What is your point? He barely even writes his column anymore most of it is ghost writers especially when talking about sports he dislikes like hockey.

And since I believe the AD is inflating the renewal rate you are kind of backing up my point. He (or the guy who wrote that part) will write whatever they tell him.

Of course you can hear the MTU crowd, you were with them (and wearing an MTU jersey I might add)

I don't know if that has been on the name change thread, but I kinda like it

The Dirty Undies.

Sort of fits UND's gritty style of play and leaves lots of great options for a logo. Minnesotans might take exception much like the Native Americans did with the Sioux name, but I doubt they'll come right out and protest.

Some of your crew were amazed that a) we wouldn't STF Up, and b) that they could hear us more often than not.:p

And they were on the opposite side and corner of the arena.

Edit: and the jersey was part of the deal to get a free ticket and a free ride there and back. ;)

Of course, I wasn't exactly fighting the urge to wear an opposing jersey in hostile territory.
