TIGER WOODS hurt in car accident.

Goon

I just heard this on Fox News.
WINDERMERE, Fla. -- Golfer Tiger Woods was seriously injured when he hit a fire hydrant and then a tree outside of his Isleworth home early on Friday morning, officials said.

The Florida Highway Patrol said Woods was seriously injured and taken to Health Central Hospital. The Orange County Fire Department confirmed that a patient was taken to Health Central, but would not confirm that the patient was Woods.

Woods was driving a 2009 black Escalade, FHP said. He hit a fire hydrant outside of his home and a tree outside his neighbor's home.

FHP said the crash is still under investigation

Re: TIGER WOODS hurt in car accident.

Professional golfer Tiger Woods was seriously injured in a car accident early this morning, the Florida Highway Patrol just reported.

Woods, 33, pulled out of his driveway in the Isleworth community about 2:25 a.m. when he struck a fire hydrant, and then drove into a tree at his neighbor's property, FHP reported.
not much happens at 2.25 am thats good

Re: TIGER WOODS hurt in car accident.

Saw this news when it broke.

I hope he'll be okay. At this point we do not know anything right now so speculating to me seems pointless.

Re: TIGER WOODS hurt in car accident.

They said that Alcohol wasn't a factor.

I dont think all the facts are out yet. It seems odd that the crash is under investigation, "Charges pending" from a one car crash where "Alcohol was not a factor."

Hopefully he is alright and makes a speedy recovery.

Re: TIGER WOODS hurt in car accident.

ESPN was very explicit that the police said alcohol was not a factor.

Given what we know about his personal life it sounds like something pretty typical for why he was going out at 2:25am - the baby probably needed something.

The real question is, how much damage can you do if you're just backing out of the driveway.

EDIT - ABC just reported he was treated and released for facial lacerations. Very good to hear thats the extent of his injuries.

Considering the size of an Escalade, you probably have to be going at a good clip, and not be buckled up.

Re: TIGER WOODS hurt in car accident.

Sounds like he has been released with facial lacerations. Somehow I didn;t interpret serious condition with a scratched up face.... unless there is something else. Media:rolleyes:

So we went form series condition to being released from the Hospital.

Gotta agree. I wasn't shocked to see a news chopper on CNN hovering his house as if he was dead with the graphic showing "Woods released from hospital."

It's a shame that all networks have to stoop to the lowest common denominator in an effort to get ratings. It's downright disgusting.

Just think what facial lacerations will mean to his endorsements. It does sound serious for his agent. :D

Re: TIGER WOODS hurt in car accident.

Are they sure the lacerations on his face arent from his wife after his "affair" went public ;)

Re: TIGER WOODS hurt in car accident.

CBS keeps breaking into coverage of Auburn-Alabama to tell us how serious it was - but that Tiger wasn't hurt. I guess any accident is "serious" but calm down. Tim Brando was breathless when he said that the publicist said he was OK but when CBS Sports reached Woods earlier he said, "No comment." Oooohhh. Conspiracy!

I'm sure the networks that broadcast golf realize the Tiger is the only person around who is recognizable to anyone who doesn't take golf as seriously as a heart attack. If he goes away, nobody pays attention. Besides, if they were breaking into the Florida-Alabama game ... that's a different story. ;)

(918): i guess i finally out drove tiger woods this morning..

Re: TIGER WOODS hurt in car accident.

his wife heard the crash ran out of the house and used a golf club to break a window and get him out of the car .... or perhaps she has heard the rumors and hit him with the golf club ...

One question answered: apparantly officers responding to an accident automatically classify the injuries as "serious" if the victim winds up being taken to the hospital.

One question unanswered: this issue of alcohol not being involved. Is that based on conversations with Tiger before he was transported? Surely they didn't give a guy with "blood in his mouth" a breathylizer. That leaves only drawing blood to determine BAC.

Most unnecessary modifier: use of the word "golfer" before Tiger's name in various accounts of the accident. He's one of the dozen most famous people on the planet. I'm guessing most folks wouldn't confuse him with the Tiger Woods who does tattoos at 5 points.
