This Week In Hockey East

Hux

Alfond to Ridder & rinks in between
Boston University opened up their season with a 2-1 shootout loss (which goes in the books as a tie) to Ohio State tonight. Good, even match-up, with the Buckeyes taking advantage of a powerplay late in the third to even the score. Melissa Haber was outstanding in net for the Terriers, turning aside 27 shots.

Re: This Week In Hockey East

Ok, the season is underway, time to walk away from the off-season thread and post in the This Week in Hockey East thread I started earlier. (because I'm tired of the WCHA clowns having the only conference discussion thread)

I know you are a huge fan of Hockey East, but I don't think you have ever said which team you ultimately pull for? :)

OSU has to be pleasantly surprised with the play of their frosh goaltender and the play of their frosh forwards...Hoky, Semenza and Mintu.

My guess? UNH!

Only around dinner time! :p (DC is a really good cook!)

I am not a fan of any one team more than another, especially given that I know coaches, players, and parents on most of the teams. Pretty hard not to root for people you have watched work incredibly hard to get where they are.

But you gotta say UNH if you wanna eat sometimes!

UNH has enough fans on this board. I say he should root for UCONN because they seem to have 0 representation on this thread.

While enjoying the intimate atmosphere of Walter Brown Arena the other night, I couldn't help but notice that the rink itself is in serious need of some upgrades. I wonder if the renovations at Matthews Arena across town will spur BU into dropping some coin on new boards and glass for WBA?(a pittance compared to Matthews) (and maybe some extra lighting too!)

It is obviously a great and storied facility, but the thrashed plexi in particular makes it look kinda dumpy, and not worthy of a D1 program.

Re: This Week In Hockey East

Counting down the minutes to tomorrow night's game AT Boston College. A very interesting early season league match-up that could well have implications come March. With not much else going on around town on Tuesday (now that the Sox are done with their season) might we see a decent student turnout? Can The BC boys drag some warm bodies out of the dorms and 100 yards across campus? Will the Northeastern faithful turnout in droves? Will Erik's Pizza and Wings pass muster?

lol, no.

Well, considering I won't be there until POSSIBLY late in the 3rd period because of band rehearsal...
Will the Northeastern faithful turnout in droves?
Is this a men's game??
Will Erik's Pizza and Wings pass muster?
Probably, since it's food. I've never been though :p
