This Time It's (Third) Personal - Michigan Tech at TheUMD, Nov. 12-13

Re: This Time It's (Third) Personal - Michigan Tech at TheUMD, Nov. 12-13

tHatch_man is still wondering where the unsportsmanlike conduct penalty for tUMD #22 was when he circled back after a 5 on 3 PP goal was scored and stood face to face to the Tech goalie and was very pleased to see tMTU #15 completely light him up for his shenanigans because if tRef's are gonna let tUMD do whatever they want on the ice, I'm glad tMTU team took the matter into their own hands. tUMD players are a bunch of classless cheapshot artists and deserve the roughing up they got from tMTU Huskies. Granted a well reffed game and a MTU win would have been better, but it didn't happen and tUMD was the beneficiary.

What cheapshots?

Maybe MTU 15 should have kept his cool. Things only spiraled out of control after he went bat **** crazy.

MConn had already been the beneficiary of two cheap shots prior to that, one that he got a penalty for because he retaliated. The goalie "taunt" was only after he got cross checked right before the goal....then his head gets punched into the ice...really? That is what you are pleased about?

Re: This Time It's (Third) Personal - Michigan Tech at TheUMD, Nov. 12-13

like tHatch_man said and was agreed with by the comment, "giving him the business" ...skating back to blatantly taunt a goalie after scoring a goal on a 5 on 3 is clearly unsportsmanlike conduct and deserves at least a 2 minute penalty if not a 10 minute misconduct to go with it.. Although what tMTU # 15 did was not hockey smart and put the team at another bad disadvantage was ultimately a show that if the officials cannot control the classless dawgs, someone had too. This did cost tHuskies another goal though.

The main point is, Why wasn't an unsportsmanlike conduct called for so blatantly going back to taunt a goalie. It also reminds tHatch_man to ask why an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty isn't called when a Bulldog player kicks a puck away from a lineman while arguing with him over a call???

No, I (**** third person) was not agreeing with you. I was making a joke.

I'm sure the Tech players had nothing to say.

Listen, son. Players trash talk all the time. On both teams. Clearly your team just wasn't creative enough to get a rise out of any of our players. Kattelus went nuts so fast MCON hardly had a chance to say anything besides the Nelson Muntz "HA-HAW."

There was no way a penalty was going to be called.

Teams celebrate in front of opposing goalies all the time. Every team does it. Get over it.

If your team can't handle a little smack talk then they better be prepared to be on the pk for the rest of the season. Teams will take advantage and bait your emotionally soft team. Refs will rarely call unsportsmanlike conduct for "taunting" unless it is directed to the refs.

Both games were poorly reffed early on which allowed for it to get out of control. What happened in the second period was the refs fault, but it was your team that went over the line....DeLisle waving to one of your players was hilarious.

Yes, I understand trash talking goes on all the time, but in 15 years of watching DI and DIII hockey I have never seen a player circle back to a goaltender after a goal and stand face to face with him while the rest of his teammates are celebrating together. That coupled with the fact that UMD is a very good hockey team with possibly the best line in DI hockey(including #22) showed a total lack of class and sportsmanship. Guess the bottom line is, If you are that good, act like it.

Tech was penalized for their behavior and and they deserved every minute of it, but UMD went unscathed from the officials for the most part (and officiating did NOT lose that game for Tech). I have tons of respect for the UMD program but #22 I have none for. He is a good DI hockey player but he was acting like a 3 year old out on the ice. BTW how did #22 not get an unsportsmanlike when he kicked the puck away from the linesman as he was arguing the call on him and was being physically taken to the box? That is directed at the officials.

and remember UMDBulldogs#1 I am pointing out 1 specific player and not the TEAM. Teams often huddle directly in front of a goaltender after a goal, but I have never seen 1 specific player go away from their TEAM's celebration and stand toe to toe, face to face with the goalie with no one else around. I will also clarify that I have seen players raise their arms in front of the goalie after a goal is scored, but never have I seen a player start skating towards their team celebration then circle back and go face to face with the goaltender.

Dude, I've seen a player drink from a goalie's water bottle after a goal, a player pull another player out of a handshake line, a player skating around cupping his ear to fans, a player beat a fan with his shoe, a goalie attack another player after a goal, a player spray oppising fans with a water bottle, a COACH spraying someone with a water bottle, a coach walk out on the ice to talk to refs, a player try to fight opposing fans, a player's dad try to fight opposing fans... Must I go on?

Hey, you know what's classy? Whipping your dick out and peeing in front of the bouncer before you enter the bar. ;)

While hilarious, still not classy. :D

Hockey rinks, yo.

Hey, Mcon was being a little ****, there's no doubt about it. I've never said he was a perfect angel. But don't expect the refs to call that. This isn't football. What Kattelus should have done is drawn a matching penalty, goaded Mike into doing something stupid. Brett Olson did that Friday night, shot after the whistle and then got Mcon to go after him. But there was no way for him to do that when he's lost control of himself and going after every guy on the ice, getting dragged off by the refs.

I agree that Kattelus went too far, if he had done something a little less violent, he easily could've drawn matching minors

Actually, techcodemonkey did exactly that at the last F5. ;)

Wait, really? Amazing. Unsportsmanlike, though.

Oh, Brent, so last night Dustin is wearing his stupid cowboy hat. Inside the hat it says "XXXXX." I said "wow you must have a big noggin" and he says that's the quality of it or something. So he says it's a size 7 1/2 and we were like "is that circumference? No, maybe length" and I said "well out your cock in there twice and we'll see."
