I can see em shutting down the Acela service, but they should be able to put plows on front of their regular trains and still have some regular service, if nothing more than to keep people moving. Especially if they're just running diesel engines.Amtrak announced they're shutting down from NYC to Boston, along with the Portland, ME line, and don't know when they'll restart service.

True, more trains they have running on the line, the clearer it would stay. Even if they're just running some slow freight trains on the lines, just to keep snow off of the tracks.Nope, it's electric along the corridor, but I'm surprised that they're shutting everything down too. The easiest way to keep a railroad clear is to run trains continually, after all, and electric trains are less likely to have issues. Maybe they decided that no employees could get to work or something.
Snow is expected to accumulate awfully fast tonight. I doubt anyone wants to be out in the middle of nowhere in a blizzard if the train gets stuck. Not to mention that people would have to venture out to get to a station to catch the train... Easier to just shut it down for the night.

has the northeast blown up yet?
Sustained winds of 100 mph? I don't think so. Even Paul Douglas has never reached that level of weather terrorism. The highest sustained winds I can find are under 50 mph. Most of the gusts are under 65.
This is fun though.
