The University of Vermont Official 2010-2011 Season Thread : Part 1

Re: The University of Vermont Official 2010-2011 Season Thread : Part 1

First half of the year? Lowell will probably finish in the basement this season. Vermont is struggling, but will turn things around and has a very solid program and will be in the mix most seasons. Lowell has taken over the Merrimack spot of the league as MC has really turned things around the last few seasons. Looks like Lowell wiil be near the bottom for years to come, maybe getting respectable every 4 years when half the roster are seniors.

Hold on a second, I want to check the win column.

Ok, yup, Lowell has still won twice as many games as Vermont this season. Let's be frank, both teams are hot garbage this season. Lowell, however, did punk Vermont for a win already. So if Lowell is as bad as you say, and I'm not arguing they're not, what does that make Vermont?

Answer: straight bum juice.

I don't know, Vermont looked freaking terrible today. I mean absolutely terrible. I wouldn't be too sure that Vermont is going to turn things around. At least not this year. Some good recruiting classes coming in though, so maybe next year?

depends on who sneddon runs out of town this off season... franklin, milo, pacan... mccarthy next?

Re: The University of Vermont Official 2010-2011 Season Thread : Part 1

good call.

however, that comes with the caveat that the catamounts are at a disadvantage, due to not having the luxury of playing a bottomfeeder like vermont.
Apparently I must spread reputation around. However, I laughed out loud.

UVM is brutal. What is good to talk about on this team?

They sure didn't look brutal when Denver played you guys on the opening weekend. I was at Gutterson and thought Vermont looked excellent. Good size, good speed, goaltending - looked like a playoff team to me. What has happened?

Hangover from winning the Season Series Against BC Championship?

LOL

Has the banner been raised in Burlington yet? Wonder if one will also be raised in North Andover this year...

Point Larusso!

Hey, it's never easy to rise back to the top once you start hanging banners in the rafters, even if they're for things like moral victories in Burlington.

Re: The University of Vermont Official 2010-2011 Season Thread : Part 1

I don't get it either. They made some humungous defensive gafts against BC. Gibbons walked thru the faceoff circle past the forward and the defenseman. Then, the D "gave" them a 2-1, which resulted in another easy goal. Somebody better check Vegas. Maybe the boys took BC on a bet! (LOL). Don't laugh too much though, cause it hurts. They need to play with passion. Why didn't Sneddon replace Madore during the game??? Not because he played poorly (although he did leave some juicy rebounds), but to fire up the team. And give the freshman a chance to play...

Oh look the one joke pony is back again, do you ever come up with something new?

Do you laugh at your own jokes in public too? Would explain why you have so much free time to troll other teams threads.

Re: The University of Vermont Official 2010-2011 Season Thread : Part 1

Since this hockey team seems to be going nowhere fast, is it too early to start experimenting a bit? For example, maybe giving Alex Vezzano some starts in goal to see what he can do? Maybe doing some things to try and shake things up offensively? Our defense can't get any worse, so why not experiment by trying to play a little more offense-minded game? Any ideas, thoughts?

Re: The University of Vermont Official 2010-2011 Season Thread : Part 1

How about the team doing some car washes and bake sales in an attempt to raise some money for a new arena? Think about it--it would be just the sort of PR stunt that might actually get the ball rolling. It would bring some much needed attention to the issue and might even provoke a UVM sugar-daddy-alum to step forward with some cash. You gotta start somewhere, right? Despite the economy, other schools seem to be getting it done--why not us? I just think it's time to stop studying the issue and actually do something, no matter how small.

Re: The University of Vermont Official 2010-2011 Season Thread : Part 1

At what point do we have to start questioning the coaching staff here? Complete inconsistency over the last 3 years and essentially backing into the NCAAs last year is purely coaching issues. I don't understand it when we can skate with BC for a weekend and then get our asses handed to us by ULowell--UMass who are struggling this year.

I see a consistent product coming out of UNH, BC, and BU for the most part. ME had some bad years but they were at least bad when they were expected to be bad and improved when the talent level came back. UNH despite no NCAA trophy puts out a high quality product every year including this year after losing Bobby Butler and other top scorers. I am very disappointed in this program this year and last year despite making the NCAAs (barely).

I don't see us skating with Yale or Dartmouth coming up and hope we can squeak a win from St Lawrence if we are lucky. UNH game will probably be another embarrassment.
