The UND Discussion Thread - We Miss Chay

Re: The UND Discussion Thread - We Miss Chay

I'm just enjoying that warm glow that comes from ending Minnesota's season yet again. :D

Really like the Team Hockey this group is playing right now. Puck pressure is outstanding, they play the body, they react to what their teammates are doing on the ice and fill gaps. It is just plain fun to watch. Perhaps the best display of pure team play I've seen in 30+ years of watching Sioux hockey.

It's also their best chance to win. This team doesn't have the superstars of years past but it has chemistry, and that can carry you a long ways in the playoffs.

Re: The UND Discussion Thread - We Miss Chay

Discussed in other threads, but Frattin is suspended for the game on Thurs:

http://www.wcha.com/sports/m-hockey/spec-rel/031510aac.html

Not a big surprise, and probably the right call.
The Sioux will miss his offensive skill, speed and heavy shot against the Bulldogs, but he'll be ready to go for DU (or the NCAA's if UMD wins).

Go Sioux! :)

I notice the refs were not reprimanded or fined for blowing the call on the ice. What a shock.

Re: The UND Discussion Thread - We Miss Chay

I'm not touchy, I'm trying to explain the truth to you. Why do all SCSU fans think any time anyone responds to them that that person is either touchy or obsessed? It's strange.

Now when MMFF tries to murder someone this weekend, he'll be suspended for three games.

Not touchy?! Wow! since November all we've heard from you "fighting" flickertails is how cheap Marvin is and that he deserved more than what he got after his illegal hit and revenge was going to come. Not only are you touchy, but your program is #$% cheap: Your coach sends out the 4th line center to drop the gloves, why didn't he send out his first line center? During the skirmish at the end of the game, Zajack maliciously slashes Roe from behind to delibertly hurt him. You can't tell me that stuff is heat of the moment, HACKstol facilitated that action!
Then after a hit where no penalty was called, the player who was hit states that Marvin wasn't being cheap, he gets a three game suspension, and what do we hear from you "fighting" flickertails, "that cheapshot finally got what he had coming."
Last night I caught Lucia's final radio show and in talking about, he stated that there is no room in college hockey for the hit that goon Frattin put on Wehrs.
I am no Rodent lover, but in all the years that I have followed college hockey, specifically the WCHA, I have never seen either Woog or Lucia facillitate or encourage that type of on ice behavior that HACKstol allows and dare I say, encourage.

But Motzko obviously does since he keeps sending Marvin out on the ice and Marvin keeps injuring opposing players.

Not touchy?!

Nice rant...yes, you are indeed a bit touchy. :p

Your coach sends out the 4th line center to drop the gloves, why didn't he send out his first line center?

Because Lammy felt sorry for Marvin, and if they were both going to get thrown out for fighting he wanted to keep it even. Our 1st line center is far too skilled to fight against someone of Marvin's ilk. In fact, so are our 2nd and 3rd. So being that Mario is closest to Marvin in points (Mario actually has more goals), he volunteered to unleash the punishment. :D

You can't tell me that stuff is heat of the moment, HACKstol facilitated that action!

It appears someone has lost it. :D

first off, you're dumb. Second off, Marvin is a malicious goon who torches orphanages and blind schools. Finally, where was Lucia commenting on Marvin's vicious hit that knocked the best player in college hockey out for the season and possibly his career? Nowhere, because he advocates hurting North Dakota players.

Yeah, just shoot yourself. The rest of the world would be happy.

The Dickar is a little edgy. Despite everything I've read from Sioux fans on multiple threads, he's still pretty sure they are defending the Frattin hit. The Marvin discussions have many SCSU fans a little edgy.

Re: The UND Discussion Thread - We Miss Chay

Updates from Brad:

First off, UND will likely be without defenseman Joe Gleason for Thursday's play-in game. He's listed as day-to-day with an undisclosed injury, but doubtful for Minnesota-Duluth. Gleason, who leads all WCHA rookie defensemen in plus-minus, appeared to be shaken up after blocking a shot on Sunday.

The monthly ISS draft rankings have UND recruit Derek Forbort at No. 10 and fellow recruit Brock Nelson at No. 22. Nelson appears to have helped his stock with a good state tournament. Nelson was featured by The Hockey News' hot list this week. They list him as the No. 1 player they can't wait to see in the NHL. Read more on that here.

The WCHA had its Final Five conference call today. All five coaches were on the call. The main topics were the contributions of seniors, which UND play-by-play guy Tim Hennessy saluted this week. There also was quite a bit of talk about goaltending.

The WCHA will announce awards on Thursday afternoon before the ceremony. The ceremony begins at 3:45. UND's Danny Kristo is top candidate for rookie of the year. Brad Eidsness also will likely be all-WCHA for the second year in a row.

The Hockey News "Hot List" on Brock Nelson:

http://www.thehockeynews.com/articles/32211-The-Hot-List-Chip-off-the-ol-Brock.html

1. Brock Nelson, C – Warroad Warriors (Minn. HS): Small in size, but not in stature, Warroad High School in northern Minnesota has produced NHLers such as T.J. Oshie, Henry Boucha and Dave Christian. Nelson, who happens to be Christian’s nephew, looks to be the next Warrior in that category.

Warroad was knocked out of the Minnesota State High School tournament by eventual Class A champ Breck, but Nelson did all he could along the way.

“I thought we played pretty well,” Nelson said. “To get to play at the Xcel Center and hang out there is unreal. It’s quite the deal.”

A 6-foot-3, 205-pound pivot, Nelson was the offensive focus of a potent Warriors attack this season. So what does he do well?

“I would have to say my scoring, my vision and my ability to create plays,” Nelson noted, adding that he wants to improve on his quickness and his first couple strides.

Committed to the University of North Dakota, Nelson may play in the United States League before joining up with the Sioux, where both Christian and Oshie also played before him. The Minnesota high school ranks seem to churn out a first-rounder every year these days and while Nelson is poised to be in that number this summer, he doesn’t have an answer for the recent prolific success.

“State of Hockey, I guess,” he said.
Draft eligible in 2010.

Re: The UND Discussion Thread - We Miss Chay

Didn't know where to put this (insert Tech joke here)

Chicago Blackhawks team is attending the Jay Leno show tonight, and I saw TOEWS sitting front and center of his team with his C! Ah I love that boy!! :D :)

Re: The UND Discussion Thread - We Miss Chay

Follow-up to that last post...

Jay was talking about a glare coming from the crowd. Pat Kane stands up and shows off his silver medal. But then Toews and the other guys from the Hawks that played for Canada stood up and Toews says "No I'm pretty sure the glare is coming from the GOLD medal that we won" hahaha :D

Re: The UND Discussion Thread - We Miss Chay

So I've been running the PWR predictor and most of the "normal" ending situations leave us 4 or 5 with BC 4 or 5 and SCSU 6 or 7.

I'm fairly certain in this situation we head to Worcester in BC's bracket with UNH 1st round and BC 2nd round. SCSU will get slotted in Miami's bracket.

However if SCSU wins out they'll take our place on the east coast to play 2 road games. So what do we want to happen? A higher seed and 2 road games or a lower seed and Miami(OH) in Fort Wayne?

Thoughts

I guess it takes a UND fan to mock the accomplishments of the United States hockey team. I realize that UND is mainly a foreign born team, but to make fun of the American team really seems like bad taste, since UND is still located there.

Location isn't as important as who the refs are, because as soon as you play with an Eastern refs, your thugs and goons are going to spend the whole game in the box, and UND will lose, and the crying will be epic.
