The Ultimate CCHA Championship: Miami, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Michigan

Re: The Ultimate CCHA Championship: Miami, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Michigan

What was left to cling to? After the first six left, there was a five team league. What was left to cling to. Every team looked at its options. Some inquired with the WCHA as well. Another explored the NCHC. The only difference between them and NMU was that NMU was the first to be invited and the first to accept. Had Fairbanks and LSSU been invited at the same time as NMU, they would have gone too. Had Bowling Green been invited to go with MAC-mates Miami and Western, they would have gone.

I'm honored that my opinion means so much to you.

Face it, your team left. You are no better than Western, Notre Dame, or Miami. There's no woulda, coulda, shoulda, that's what happened.

But if you want to pretend otherwise, go for it. And if you think it's so important to change my mind, go for it.

I'm pretty aware of why none of the smaller schools were there and why the CCHA Tourney has been dominated by the big bucks schools. I just thought it would have been nice had one of them been able to make it. No doubt the Big 6-10-12-14 will be a successful league. I'm not as sure about the NCHC.

We've had this circular argument time and time again about your endless windmill fighting about "Big Buck schools". Look at any other league in college hockey and tell me that argument holds water. Your team in particular went to the Joe how many times? How many times did they win? The talent margin wasn't always that great. It is a windbag argument. Your brethren at MTU never used it as an excuse when they had to compete against Minnesota or Wisconsin (or that other little school in Grand Forks), and had even less success getting to the Final Five than NMU did making it to JLA. Get off it.
