The Ugly Helmets are going down the TUBES

Re: The Ugly Helmets are going down the TUBES

I know.. it only took 20+ seasons for M hockey to appear to not make the tourney. No one else has come close to that kind of streak. Add in a bunch of FF's, conference championships, 2 NC's during that time. Yeah, we really suck tubes.

Edited for a more accurate definition.

Minnesota did just as well, but our worst year was a lot better than this crap fest you have had this year.

Re: The Ugly Helmets are going down the TUBES

We actually stopped using those for currency during the Great Buffalo Chip Scare of '86, but thank you for your concern even if it is nearly 30 years behind.

they switched over to sugar beets these days.

Re: The Ugly Helmets are going down the TUBES

No irony here. We all know what stirs the drink at Michigan, though and it is the opposite at Minnesota, so when their hockey program is down it is unmitigated tragedy. Not the same impact at Michigan.

We're still talking about hockey. But if you must travel down that road, even as historically bad as the BB and FB programs have been lately they still get more press than the hockey team. Also the fans of those sports would be just as oblivious to hockey failures as to those in Ann Arbor.

Michigan is tubing and you are wondering why?

you no longer have the power of tPearson.

HUSH UP that kind of talk there Mrs. huskyfan. Pearson would be a terrible hire. He doesn't know a hockey game from tiddlywinks.

Re: The Ugly Helmets are going down the TUBES

As for ugly helmets, though I would root for THE Ohio State University any time the play Ann Arbor in any sport, their attempt to re-create their football helmets on the hockey helmets is far more visually unappealing. It's just plain bad. The blue and yellow hockey version actually works.
OSU had those helmet some years ago for 1 game and lost to Michigan that night and being superstitious the team didn't want to wear them any more. Coach Oz brought them back claiming anyone in the country who saw the headgear would instantly think Ohio State.

Re: The Ugly Helmets are going down the TUBES

This is just like football in 2008. The bowl streak ended and the nightcrawlers came out from under their rocks.
And then Michigan went back to it's usual ways not too long after.

Is this their "usual ways?"

BTW, couple things about rep...

1) You have to be in the green for your rep to count against someone.

2) Extra members can see who repped them even if that person doesn't sign their rep.

Hope that helps. :)

Re: The Ugly Helmets are going down the TUBES

Add to that the fact that Ann Arbor fans are hardly known for bring polite or humble is a prime reason they should not be surprised when it flows back the other way.

It's good that you take it so personally, because it is.

Most of us have friends who are fans of other teams- I even have some who are Wildcats. I know no fan who hates a program for the sake of hating the program outside of MSU (which is expected). It's funny how indifferent means that we are arrogant against you. It's not- we just don't care.

So if you think that we are all evil, then it's quite personal to you. Which is the way it should be. :)

Indeed, it is bad that Michigan is losing this year. But given Red's track record, a handful of mulligans is fine. Just two years ago, we came close to winning an national championship. I can also deal with being one of the Evil teams- but it's kind of ironic that the thread was started from one of the other Evil team fans. That's pretty ballsy.

Re: The Ugly Helmets are going down the TUBES

I'd say their usual ways were going 11-2 and winning the Sugar Bowl in 2011. You know, win a BCS game? Something wisconsin can't do.

Ah yes, always comes back to football. Typical. Enjoy your football while your hockey team goes down the tubes.

Is it really surprising to you that those two would argue about football, Tiggs? ;)

There are many terrific Michigan fans. And I have no doubt whatsoever that they will be back among the elite in college before long. But if you know of no one who hates a program for the sake of hating outside of MSU, you haven't seen Michigan fans and the Ohio State University, or Chicago Bears fans and the Green Bay Packers, or just about any other baseball fan and the New York Yankees. Take the hate and enjoy the badge of honor that goes with it. Would you rather be the team that other fans hate, or the team that other fans don't even notice?

So why the bleep do you broad brush all of us? It's fans like you who force other fans to hate programs. You rail on the program as if there's some kind of correlation to the knookie you get and if Michigan plays DII teams. Or if you get some kind of raise if Michgian goes to Ferris.

You are wasting your energy on useless crap.

Wait a cotton pickin' minute here. Wasting energy on useless crap on this board? I do not believe that, sir!

It's not wasting energy at all. Getting ugly helmet fans all riled up during a pretty pathetic year is simply effortless so I have plenty of energy to waste so many other things.

Re: The Ugly Helmets are going down the TUBES

BCS Appearances: Wisconsin 5 Michigan 5, BCS Wins: Wisconsin 2 Michigan 2

Current BCS game streaks-

Michigan: W1
Wisconsin: L3

Enjoy taking shots while Michigan is down. They'll be back faster than the football program came back.

It's good when so many fans of less-fortunate programs are taking glee in Michigan not winning this year. It means they've done pretty **** good. Great actually.

You consider Minnesota less fortunate the the ugly helmets in hockey? Um... you want to think about that again? Or were you so grief stricken at the state of your program you didn't notice what program of which I'm a fan.

Less fortunate in accomplishments.

I was more referring to most of the CCHA really.

Where does it say ALL Michigan fans? Note the part that says There are many terrific Michigan fans. Nice to see you so riled up though. Maybe you've expended a bit too much energy. :D
