The Transfer Portal - "Beam me over there, Scotty."

Agreed, there's a gigantic difference between the ECHL and the AHL. The former is usually a dead-end endeavor, while the latter is quite possibly a stepping stone.
And you can earn a half-decent salary in the AHL; enough to hang around for several years. Not so in the ECHL.

My hot take for the day! Your mileage may vary; I have no problem with that. Gaudreau was superb at BC, but Union doesn't win the National Championship without Gostisbehere. I'm undoubtedly biased from watching him confound RPI in person for several season and one of my alma maters in the championship game. The minutes he logged combined with his exceptional skating and puck handling skills allowed him to dictate the tempo of the games. A remarkable season.

Gostisbehere was the best Dman I've seen in college (from 1982 on).

I did not see enough of Gaudreau to judge, but it's difficult to believe the best defenseman in the last 40 years didn't deserve the Hobey.

Not to be too much of a homer, but how much of Makar did you see? I wasn’t alive in 1982 but I find it hard to believe the best defenseman of the last 40 years was someone other than the 2018-2019 Hobey winner.

Not too much? LOL
