My mother used to say, "if wishes were horses, then beggars would ride." It always used to annoy me when she did that. :mad:



If we only had the data we could do all sorts of interesting things with it. I would not be at all surprised that the data would indicate one should pull the goalie much earlier than generally is done, for example; just like the data indicates that coaches should "go for it" in football on 4th down far more often than they do. There is a high school coach somewhere who always goes for it on 4th down and it works very well for him, just as the statistics indicate.

Drat! I didn't pick them in the top 10 - I guess I should have looked closer at the top 11 - 25.

Just read the write up on #7. And no, they weren't on my list:( Unless I get all the rest right, don't see the jersy heading to SoCal.

In doing this list, there have been a lot of very good coaches that were players on these teams. That '77 Wisconsin team might top them all though with Eaves, Gwoz, and Mark Johnson. They have collectively combined for 7 National Championships as head coaches, and 1 as an assistant.

even if I do get the rest right, it looks like there are enough people ahead of me by now that have the same picks remaining that I do, that I cannot possibly win even then.....:o

I just wanted to update everyone in here, that #6 will be delayed. My other grandfather passed away yesterday from a stroke, so I won't be updating the site until sometime next week.

It really doesn't seem real. My other grandfather had a lot of issues and we had been preparing for it mentally for years, but this grandfather had been extremely healthy up until the last couple months or so, and wasn't even in that bad of shape (or so we thought). It was a very sudden, unexpected loss.

Wow!!!! No time to grief. I'm so sorry and my condolences. I lost a brother who was only 34 yrs old and now 5 months later it still hurts. Hang in there FS23. Lean on your family.

Once again, thank you to all the well wishes. It's amazing how you can lose two people you love so much within such a short time frame. I'm just glad that I was fortunate enough to spend nearly 30 years with them, as many people do not get that much time with their grandfathers.

As for this thread, the CHW website is going through some severe financial struggles. I don't know all the logistics of everything, but if you like the site and would like it to continue operating, a donation would be greatly appreciated. There are paypal options on the bottom of several pages. That being said, I had a discussion with some of the other guys about how to structure the final three weeks, and I think we are going to do #6, 5, and 4 next Sunday, followed by #3, 2, and 1 on the 26th. The other options include #6 next Sunday, then the top 5 on the 26th, or #6 this Sunday, #5 and #4 next Sunday, and then #3, 2, and 1 on the 26th. Either way, the 26th will be the final release date. After this list, we have some other goodies in store...assuming the website is still around.

Whatever the results, I've enjoyed the thread and look forward to the next release on CHW.

P.S. If you could fix so I win the jersey, it would be even better.
