I think, like Sununu, Baker has his eyes on a bigger prize. He’d lose against Warren in a presidential year in Mass (and if he didn’t, y’all can go fuck your so-called liberal selves). He seems like more of an executive type, less legislative, but I can’t claim to know him that well.
Seems to have accomplished a lot for Massachusetts, which, barring a GOP trifecta in Washington come 2024 (not entirely out of the realm of possibility), he wouldn’t do in the Senate, outside of tax cuts.

I really don't know what Baker wants now. I agree that he sees himself (and is) more of an executive than a legislator and even if he won the senate seat, he'd just be one of a bunch of freshman congress critters (albeit the Republican that unseat a Democrat in MA). He's eked out a position that's very vocally anti-Trump, so I don't see any future for him in the current iteration of the party. In fact he was likely not going to get any party assistance even if he won the nomination... which was not guaranteed since 2021 Republicans are, apparently, all completely batshit insane.

In an interview the other day he joked about how he didn't really have many hobbies and needed something to do so his wife wouldn't murder him. I also think governing during the pandemic and during the Trump administration really took a toll on him, and I wouldn't be surprised if he flitted off to Tahiti or Guam or somewhere wicked fah dude and re-evaluated his life.

I am not saying they won't try...they will. But the thing is after they did that last time that is what lead to GA flipping Blue. The very people they tried to suppress waited in line for hours to vote and will do it again. It wasn't the White People electing a Jew and a Black Man...it was Black People who usually didn't vote that she and her crew got to the polls and have said they will be back again.

If it was anybody but her I would never bet on it. She knows how to get people to the polls and Kemp is hated by the Trumpers. If he is the nominee he won't be guaranteed their vote just like Perdue wasn't nor was Loeffler. Trumpers are like Nina Turner on crack they will burn anyone they deem disloyal.

I get that. But the point I'm (and likely the others) making is that they now know it's possible. GA in 2020.10 was a solid red state. It isn't now. THey know she's coming and they won't underestimate her.

I hope I'm wrong, obviously.

It's not the country.

We are America.

The Left owns and guards the flag, the Declaration, the Constitution, the Statue of Liberty, the national parks, and every other symbol that makes our country great. We are the Norman Rockwell Americans. We are the Exceptionalism of this nation. We are the patriots and the keepers of what our ancestors fought and died for.

We are the Founders, the Abolitionists, the New Deal, the Civil Rights Movement, the Women's Movement, the American Indian Movement, Stonewall, and the Environmental Movement.

The Right are intruders and vandals -- orcs who want to reduce our country to just another vicious, narrow ethno-state. They are not Americans, they are invaders and rebels to be dealt with swiftly.

Well I am hardly the optimist (as you know) so me having a good feeling is kind of odd ;^)

It is going to be interesting. The problem the GOP has (beyond the faction splitting) there is that the metro areas are so solidly Blue that any votes she can get from rural Blacks is a bullet to the heart. That was the calculus she figured out for the Senate. She is just so much better at all this than they are which is why I wanted her in leadership. She isn't "Look at my 12 worthless degrees from Penn" smart she is actually smart and she doesn't talk above the audience. When they screwed her last go round it shifted her strategy and she will find a way to beat them imho.

Now if she was in Texas...no chance. But the people of GA (well the ones that don't drool over MTG and Trump) can't be very happy with how they have looked since last November.

Long way to go though...I honestly don't think Kemp survives a primary because the GAGOP has to know he won't get the support from the people they need the most.
