Harvard can only take you so far in life's adventure of education.

He and his entire family show up to his church every week not wearing a mask. That's not rumor, or a baseless assertion. I know this; my wife's friends have seen him do it personally. He's that guy. I think people are reluctant to say anything to him because the church wants his donations and others are afraid of confronting a former NFL player and minor celebrity.

Also, he looks completely different than he did when he was a player. The man is downright slim these days.

Oh I dont think anyone doubts he is a full on Dotard. Listening to him interviewed can be painful sometimes. People only like him cause he is from here and played for the Vikes. No one with an IQ over 40 thinks of him as a smart guy.

If he gets sick there will be an outpouring of people wishing him well until people are reminded he is a Trumper who brought it on himself.

Second, #2 = provincialism?

Provinciality -- similar to say rusticity / urbanity -- would be pretty good, but I would really like something at the subnational level which still has a political rather than cultural "nationality" flavor. Since culture is, by definition, meaningful whereas citizenship is meaningless in every aspect of human Being except law.

The best I could come up with is "sectionality," as used in say the Federalist Papers. It's broadbrush -- the entire South or the entire Midwest -- but it's my placeholder until we can find something better.

If it were sectionality or regionality I would place it above nationality. Fishing in a river as opposed to an ocean actually does make a difference in human-ness.

Edit: F-ck it, I'm going to punt and just add the age-old country vs city dichotomy to the pole.

As a Harvard student friend of mine said years ago (granted, thinking of a different group of fellow students -- legacies, not athletes), "there are plenty of really stupid kids at Harvard." I can vouch for the same at Cornell (though there it was the athletes) and Stanford, and a friend of mine who taught at Duke reported the same.

There are moron kids everywhere, and they share at least one of two characteristics: money, athletic talent. The only schools (including the military academies) I don't believe this about are MIT and CalTech. Every other place can be bought.

Fundies yeah...but no Liberal, even a Vikings fan, would vote for that clown ESPECIALLY with his stance on the virus. He will get trounced in the population centers especially after he has to give a speech. He also will never out debate Walz. He has no experience and isnt nearly the celebrity he needs to be to pull off the "Ventura" so I wouldnt worry about it. (and Jesse was Mayor of BP so at least he had SOME experience in politics) Plus by then Walz will be polling in the 60s again.

He would be better off running for Mayor of Saint Paul or something...I doubt he even makes it out of the primary.

It is liberal, but he is kind of a big deal there. He has a much better chance winning that election than he would the run for Governor. Birk wont do better than Jason Lewis did this past round especially running against Walz. He grew up in Saint Paul, went to private school there, had a restaurant there for a while (which failed horribly cause it was awful) and still lives there. They might elect him on his celebrity. Minneapolis and Duluth wouldn't touch him with a 10 foot pole because he is a Trumper.

I have been a Seahawks fan for 44 years and not only do I not know the name of the current Centers, I could not name a single one in their history off the top of my head, and I only recognized one name (Max Unger) after looking them all up.

He does not live in St. Paul currently, rather one of its nearby southern suburbs along 35E. His neighborhood has a history of paying a company every year to put up a very elaborate series of Xmas light displays, but not all home owners participate in that tradition. I don't recall if he does or not, but his house is notable because it's the only one where the family car is a nicely appointed, small bus. One thing for which he absolutely does hold an admirable trait is that he's used a good chunk of his money to adopt a number of children from struggling backgrounds, across a number of different races. Friends of mine are trying to adopt currently, it's about a $50k process.
