One of my buddies calls those “Whole house on fire in fifteen seconds, trapping and killing you inside” floor plans.

Yes, he’s a firefighter.

Yes, his house has one.

Guh. My house in Arizona is like this.

I knew a fireman who called tract housing "jumpers" because the units are jammed so close together the fire jumps from eaves to eaves faster than you can put it out. He said the only possible way to stop a fire in those complexes would be to plow an entire square of undamaged units under like creating a firebreak in a forest, and because that is socially impossible the whole thing just goes up.
