Related, but no. Confirmation bias is seeking out only evidence that supports your view and trying to avoid contradictory evidence. Belief Perseverance is when you proclaim that your belief is even stronger AFTER actually being exposed to contradictory evidence.
 
Belief perseverance is the concept behind, "I trust my 'alternative facts' and/or gut fee-fees more than your hippie-dippie librul facts and scientific studies."

No, this is Backfire Effect.

Confirmation Bias is why you believe the other team commits every penalty.

Belief Perseverance is why, after the refs review the play and the call still goes against you, you decide the refs are bribed, rather than that your initial judgment was wrong.

Conservatives suffer from both and are incapable of self-correction because of Dunning-Kruger.
