One of those is (likely) not a real headline from Politico.

The latter is a particularly gross piece that tries to carry water for right-to-work-for-as-little-as-possible-until-you-die laws.

"Scramble"? "Fallout"? Really? Gimme a fcking break.

IIRC, they started permitting stations in rural counties to do self-serve a handful of years back. Sounds like they just extended it to the entire state this week, with a caveat that only half the pumps at each station can be self-serve.

You folks around the country have no idea what a revolution this is. When I lived in OR, the entire locally-born population thought we were insane to pump our own gas. A friend's GF actually cried when he went back home to SF for a weekend because "he'll pump his own gas and something will happen."

So what this tells me is the OR electorate finally dropped below 50% born in OR.

Just protecting jobs for their native citizens.
 
The funny thing is, if gasoline were not so ubiquitous, it would be right up there with Tylenol in terms of things the public probably shouldn't have access to.

it has an incredibly low flash point. It's LFL is under 2%. It has a very low minimum ignition energy. It's somewhat difficult to extinguish if it does catch. It has an incredibly high energy density. It's quite toxic and contains several known carcinogens and is itself classified as carcinogenic.

it's a very very bad substance. But man is is great for transportation.

Just a couple of years ago, Ted Cruz and a few other "B+ list" GQP celebs jetted in for that conference. My then-fiance and I unfortunately happened to be on the island at the same time. After 2022, they can barely get also-ran scraps like Vivek Ramaswamy to be seen embracing Krazy Kristina's brand of brimstone & nutso. Even Dinesh D'Souza changed his mind and no-showed at the 11th hour. I see Kari Lake showed up to whine some more about losing the election and claim that America is becoming a communist country. *yawn* Get some new material!
