Re: The States. It's 10th Amendment or bust!

Based solely on a dog sniff? Nope. Need reasonable suspicion they are under the influence. A dog sniff merely means its present in the car.

The Drug War's days are numbered anyway. It was a way of criminalizing and disenfranchising people who would likely vote liberal. Now that drug use is way up among rural white conservatives there's no reason to keep the pressure on. Beauregard aint got the message because he actually believes that crap, but he'll be set straight.

No-one cares about decriminalizing meth and illegitimate prescription drug use.

How do they test for weed anyway? From what I've read, blood or hair kits can trigger a positive weeks after your last puff.

You'd be shocked at how high marijuana use is in rural areas. Legal weed is a huge battle in rural areas of Alaska.

Pot is ubiquitous. I wouldn't be surprised if it accounts for 50% of all police activity out in the country.

There is a Canadian company that makes a weed "breathalyzer." I think it tests your saliva, which IIRC is accurate to within around 6-8 hours.

Re: The States. It's 10th Amendment or bust!

There are swab tests that can do the same thing...

Interesting. I have no medical background, but I would think it might be a little easier (and lead to more accurate results?) for cops to use a weed breathalyzer than to conduct swab tests on the scene.

Re: The States. It's 10th Amendment or bust!

From what little I've heard about a "weed breathalyzer," what is available is more of a Yes/No result versus an alcohol breathalyzer's percentage. It's very difficult for officers to field test for how much weed is in your system.

States like Colorado and Washington can't tell how much weed impairs driving.

When I lived in Seattle when I applied for a temp agency they swabbed me...it was fast IIRC.
