The States 2: States Rights for Me But Not for Thee

I hate this planet.

Circling back to the discussion about alcohol laws, an Alaska judge (who plays in a soccer league I ref in) struck down Alaska’s restrictions on breweries and wineries hosting live music and entertainment.

Here’s an article with more of the details.

Kind of gives insight into the absurdity of Alaska’s alcohol laws and also the lobbying power of bar owners and alcohol distributors.

The whole liquor industry is an utter fucking racket no matter where you live, but let's not pretend weed won't eventually end up the same way. Already we've got big corporate, multi-outlet brands like JARS suing for license access in cities like Detroit that tried to do the right thing and hold back a substantial percentage of dispensary licenses for minority residents previously convicted on MJ distribution charges. And since the profitability of the rec market has tanked due to volume, mergers & consolidations are inevitable.

Weed is definitely the next thing normal people use that Rich White Corporate Dbags will exploit and ruin.

The one thing holding all of that up is the fact that it’s still a scheduled substance federally, so it’s incredibly difficult to have multi state operations. Until product can be reliably transported across state lines, it’ll be difficult to get the kind of massive operations that will inevitably ruin the industry.

Re: the alcohol industry in Alaska.

Alaska’s alcohol industry is an especially corrupt racket because it’s relatively small and insular. Like it’s incredibly difficult to obtain an alcohol license, there’s only one or two distributors and the industry has such a massive lobbying force they essentially write their own rules.

TBH this isn't just Alaska. Alcohol licensing is risibly corrupt everywhere. Getting a license for a bar on Long Island meant bribing three levels of city and regional bureaucrats and the mafia.

America first! I mean, chile first

House votes to open land next to boundary waters for mining

I really wish Burgum would stick to raping his own (shithole as it may be) state. Nuremberg will come for him, too

A woman on Threads was whining about that church service being interrupted, etc., etc. Someone reminded her of Jesus' demonstration in the temple which she admitted she had never heard of and said, "Now I know the story". Another reply to her-

Reading it means nothing if you didn't learn for it. For instance Jesus never said to the poor, "Pick yourself up by the bootstraps", and you might be surprised what Jesus said about welcoming strangers and caring for the dispossessed in Matthew 25 and Matthew 22.
She then said, "Jesus said a lot of stuff". One final reply-

So does Trump and you hang on his every word. Fake Christians love false prophets

"Jesus said a lot of stuff" perfectly encapsulates how far removed MAGA is from anything that has to do with Christianity. They have nothing in common wiht what Jesus (or any decent human being for that matter) espoused and nstead they're all wrapped up in organized religion. Over-sized churches where everyone tithes but the money never sees a food shelf and instead buys the pastor another Cadillac. Where women don't swap recipes they swap phone numbers for their plastic surgeon and the men tell jokes about their one black friend when he's not around.

The most vile of the vile that somehow have convinced themselves they're good people.

"Man against God.
God against Man.
Man against Nature.
Nature against Man.
Very strange religion.

We drink tea now."

-- Shinto Master quoted by Joseph Campbell

"I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ."

-Gandhi (allegedly, may be apocryphal)
Really he only liked the Jesus who was directly quoted in the Gospels.

He said also to the one who had invited him, ‘When you give a luncheon or a dinner, do not invite your friends or your brothers or your relatives or rich neighbors, in case they may invite you in return, and you would be repaid. But when you give a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, and the blind. And you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you, for you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous.’ -- Luke 14:12-14

There was a rich man who was dressed in purple and fine linen and who feasted sumptuously every day. And at his gate lay a poor man named Lazarus, covered with sores, who longed to satisfy his hunger with what fell from the rich man’s table; even the dogs would come and lick his sores. The poor man died and was carried away by the angels to be with Abraham. The rich man also died and was buried. -- Luke 16:19-25

Then the Lord said to him, ‘Now you Pharisees clean the outside of the cup and of the dish, but inside you are full of greed and wickedness. You fools! Did not the one who made the outside make the inside also? So give for alms those things that are within; and see, everything will be clean for you. But woe to you Pharisees! For you tithe mint and rue and herbs of all kinds, and neglect justice and the love of God.’ -- Luke 11:39-42

CHRIST was third party aftermarket branding by Paul, Augustine and those other sick fucks.

Jesus : Marx :: Paul : Lenin :: Augustine : Stalin

2000 years later we are still paying the price for the OG co-opting of the Revolution of Love into an instrument of torture in the service of power.
