The rebirth of Providence College Hockey

Re: The rebirth of Providence College Hockey

Great first half and they did play with BC......this is a sign of better things to come this year and in the future......wish the team a well earned break and a better second season

Friars were a tough out last night, no doubt about it

Re: The rebirth of Providence College Hockey

If I have my fact correct, Providence had the following for total points in a season:

08/09 - 13 points
09/10 - 14 points
10/11 - 15 points

To date at the break with 12 points. Sure was a great half in conference for them. Lets hope it continues.

Re: The rebirth of Providence College Hockey

I think there is much to be thankful for in Friartown this year. I listened to part of the BC game last night and the Friars were in it well into the third period. It sounded pretty darn close to me. In prior years you just counted the "L" before the game started. It is exciting to once again be competitive and know the team can skate and compete with the best. I'm looking forward to the rest of this season. There will be downs, but it seems they will not likely be as low as last year. Go Friars. Thanks Nate!

Re: The rebirth of Providence College Hockey

What did you do the previous 15 years? ;) Happy Holidaze Friar fans and kudos to the solid season so far!

This is the first time since early 1990's that this team has really excited me...Some of the late 90's squads and early 2000 teams were good but they were not exciting to watch.

That's awesome for you guys, the new coaches in this league are injecting excitement and its really good for those programs, the fans, and the leagues! Total opposite of what we are experiencing up in Durham...

Re: The rebirth of Providence College Hockey

So PC had a cup of coffee in the top 20. It was fun while it lasted. Frankly, it is more fun to operate under the radar and then snatch a playoff spot come March. Go Friars!

Re: The rebirth of Providence College Hockey

Its a great spot to be in for the Christmas break......right smack in the middle of Hockey East, now we go out and have a great finish.....polls are just a popularity responce for favorite coaches, some are accurate but the majority at this point in the season mean nothing

Everyone have a wonderful Christmas and a better New Year :)

Re: The rebirth of Providence College Hockey

On Ebay right now there is a Friars jersey that is #91 Knauss. It has the newer friar head logo, ccm, the cross armpatch, hockey east emblem, and a small flying friar on the bottom of the back. Doesn't look like any of the bookstore jerseys and seems pretty official. Did a quick search of knauss/hockey/pc and couldn't find anything. Anyone got any info?

Never heard of him....

Re: The rebirth of Providence College Hockey

They advertise it as an ECAC jersey but the Hockey East logo is sitting there on the jersey front.....the name is probably a fan who owned or ordered the jersey not a player

Re: The rebirth of Providence College Hockey

The seller on ebay has a michigan and BU jersey with the same name and number. I did find a Knauss who appears to be an ncaa hockey timekeeper. Maybe different schools gave him a jersey for his work?

Re: The rebirth of Providence College Hockey

Looks like the Friars have picked up another recruit.

Mark Jankowski will come to PC either next year or in 2013. He's 6'2" 170 centerman and plays at Stanstead College (which is actually a prep school) in Canada.

Scouts think Jankowski is a well-rounded forward who skates well, has a good stick, and plenty of poise with the puck - he is a bit of a "hidden gem".
Friars beat out Cornell, Harvard, Maine, Penn State, and BU for him. Jankowski, is a 9/13/94 birthdate, and is projected to be a mid-round pick in June’s NHL draft. He leads Stanstead in scoring with a 15-11-26 line in 14 games played. Stanstead College will be in New England Jan. 1-2, playing in the Tabor Tournament.

Where did you pick this info up? It's not up on the Heisenberg site yet.
