Re: The PPACA Thread Part V: Doctor! Doctor! Give me the news!

I wish that chart were scaled for number of people in each bracket. Show the number of people negatively and positively impacted in each bracket.

I would think the massive majority would be in the (37-91, single; 75-152 joint) section, which is unchanged.

The only significant effect of this plan is to drive (415+; 467+) from .40 to .33. That's all it does and all it's supposed to do, because being bent over without lube by the rich for the last 37 years apparently isn't enough. The extra $5T in debt will then be paid by the middle class. The poor have no money and the rich avoid paying their share, so we are the only ones left to pay. And of course we pay again with the opportunity cost of the investments that money could go for. Instead, our country falls apart as the wealthy pocket what would go for education and roads.

Cut the rich's taxes and debt explodes and the middle class dies. Economists knew this would happen back before we tried it. We now know this is true from almost 40 years' horrific experience. How anyone can argue for this on the merits, rather than just purely as class warfare to benefit the 1%, is beyond belief.

And yet... our very own useful idiots will defend it on pure ideological grounds, despite all the empirical evidence. It's a religious faith, not an economic theory, and they hate us so much they will always cling to it simply because we can refute it.

If the makers of that graph just went to IRS.gov, all of that data is very easily available.

Pretty interesting, too- since the actual tax rates don't even come close to the brackets that we all are assigned to. And the richer you go, the lower the actual taxed rate is. It peaks at 28% in the mid 100's, and lowers to just over 20%, IIRC from the last time I looked.

Borrow and Spend only is awesome and capitalism if you're borrowing and spending on the RICH. Otherwise, no.

Not if you ask poor whites in rural America. Borrow and Spend is great.

Remember, the average right leaning person thinks the 80s were great economically because Big Business was making YUGE profits and the rich were getting paid. Sure they had a cruddy standard of living, their health care was crap and the deficit was skyrocketing...a bunch of banks made billions and fooled everyone into thinking that meant THEY got some of the pie. These same people then voted out GHWB because he dared try and pay for the crap St. Ronnie the Forgetful never paid for.

They hear the economy is great on the CBS Evening news and they figure their trickle is happening for them. Meanwhile Uncle Jeb just got his Social Security Disability approved and his check is in the mail.

Ah, yes, thank you for the correction.

And we must remember, that giving rich people money will trickle down to good jobs for all of us...... Someday. In someone's fantasy book.

Hey now...it worked in Kansas right? Hmmm...

This will be an interesting test. Poor, f-cked up, red state with tons of people on the Medicaid expansion and a Senate race to be fought over it. Will Republicans stick with their guy and cut their own throats or go blue the way they did with their governor?

Freedumb ideology is cute until your kid is sick. Let's see if these people will actually throw their kids to the wolves to maintain an ideological fiction.

Just like to iterate again how massively disappointed I am that after 7 years the Republicans have not put forward a single NEW and exciting Health Care policy proposal. Not a one. It's a ****ing trainwreck.

The leadership needs to be replaced. If V.V. was in charge, this would be fairly easy with a series of medical (fatal) retirements.

"Look, I didn't expect Donald Trump to win, I think most of my colleagues didn't, so we didn't expect to be in this situation," Sen. Pat Toomey (R) said.

They thought they would have another 4 years to attack the White House and rail against the ACA. Of course they have nothing.

I think it's positively mind boggling that I thought Donald Trump could win more than GOP Senators in Congress. Don't these people pay attention to what's happening politically in the United States?

Meh, you picked Walker. You get no credit.

Cassandra was Michael Moore. He nailed it exactly and the world laughed.

Nobody's laughing now except Vlad.
